Panthers met with Miami OT Ereck Flowers

He's killing the combine:

"Flowers set the bar for offensive linemen at the combine in the bench press testing. Flowers, who measured in at 6-foot-6 and 329 pounds, bench-pressed 225 pounds 37 times. Making his feat slightly more impressive: he did it with arms that measured 34 1/2 inches long. Only seven of the 53 offensive linemen at the combine had lengthier limbs. Flowers moved that weight a greater distance than most.

In the 40-yard dash testing Friday, Flowers ran a 10-yard split — the key number for offensive linemen — in 1.78 seconds. Only three offensive linemen were quicker, each of them smaller and lighter."

Yeah, Flowers is probably driving himself too far up the draft board for us to have a chance at him.

I think we're going to meet with a TON of OTs.  I HOPE we meet with a ton of OTs.  I wouldn't mind double dipping in the least.  I like Remmers, don't get me wrong, but I'm not 100% certain that he's the long-term answer at RT.

another analyst not impressed:

NFL Draft Scout Matt Miller @ nfldraftscout 3h

I'm not a huge Ereck Flowers fan on film (Nebraska, FSU

games) and he's not been super impressive here either.

i watched that same game vs. Nebraska, and he didn't have a bad game. a lot of people called Miller out on that too.

#Miami OT Ereck Flowers looking pretty good in change-of-

direction compared to most of the OL. Jake Fisher also

looked good, unsurprisingly.

Ereck Flowers 5.29 1.78 That's an I make money ten yard

split

gridironstuds.com Chad Wilson @GridironStuds 4h

That's stupid that Ereck Flowers moves like that at that size.

6'6 1/4" 329 lbs. and gliding across the turf like a summer

breeze.

SB Nation Recruiting @ SBNRecruiting 4h

Ereck Flowers is a great example of a guy who wasn't great

as a junior but worked hard senior year of hs, got bigger

offers. Killing combine

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
    • I've got nothing else to say really than: Ayup. Here we are again. Again.  All we can really hope for is progress. If we improve as much again, it'll be good. If we don't, it'll be foretold.
