Preseason week 3 a strong indicator/omen for Panthers' regular season play?

2005: Played Cleveland, Delhomme looked sharp, touchdown to Smith in the first half, defense got a turnover. NFCC game appearance.

2006: Played Miami, struggled, Delhomme went something like 6/15 in passing, eeked out a win, struggled the entire year.

2007: Got handled by the Pats, Brady looked sharp, so did Delhomme, which carried on into the season. The rest of the team struggled however and that also carried into the season.

2008: Played the 'Skins. Looked more like a game between DeAngelo and Stewart however of who could stomp the Redskins' defense better. These two backs broke records in 2008, as the Panthers dominated plenty games.

I hate getting caught up into patterns and I realize this is uncharacteristic of me but it is interesting to say the least, and right now, we look miserable, which, I hope, isn't a preview of what we're in store for this season.

First couple of games in the regular season are going to be ugly.

so right now if the trends that we see in this game are real, that means....

A: The defense will still be soft and give up gratuitous amounts of yards through the air this season

B: Jake Delhomme will have a decent year

C: Mike Goodson will make plays whether he gets 10 carries on the season or 100

Our LB core is great, but unfortunately we don't have anyone in front or behind them that can play defense. I don't think anyone would call the Ravens offense a dominate one, but they certainly looked like that today, they rolled all over us.

Of course getting Beason and Davis back will make a difference, but I still think we'll have a lot of issues on defense this year.

Unfortunately, our injuries are making us look bad. No starting running backs and no starting linebackers are making us look bad. They're normally our top strengths.

still though, our LBs haven't looked good at all yet with that huge void in the middle of the line.

    • Dude you're all over the place. Bryce definitely played better than average down the stretch last year. That's what I said. I dont think it's controversial, and I think it's true based both on stats and by actually watching him play. He was the 6th rated passer by PFF during the last 8 weeks. In no world is that below average You trying to twist this into something else is a you thing.  Have a great night
    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
