Legit question, does the Saints downfall scare you at all of Cam's upcoming mega deal?

I must say that after finding out we will have 45 million in cap space next season AFTER we lock up Cam changes my whole perception, we will be able to do anything we want at that point. I'm so use to having piss poor cap room year after year these past few years I didn't realize we are only a year away from all those terrible contracts from 2011 coming off the books

You also have to think about the future with that money. Luke star Kk and kelvins comtracts will be coming up before you know it. You have to decide if you want to keep certain players or let some walk. Of the team is on the brink of a Super Bowl than splurge. We're not at that point yet

Wasn't the whole point of the Rookie wage scale was so you could surround young QBs with talent as they would not take up as much cap space?

No, the rookie cap was put in to keep from paying unproven players huge money right off the rip. Think Sam Bradford. Basically a bust, but got a ridiculous load o cash because of where he was picked and the hype leading up to the draft

Which Panthers will be free agents next year?

Cam. Luke, TD, Tolbert, JNorman, Cotchery, Derek Anderson, Roman Harper, Wes Horton, Colin Cole, Joe Webb, Brenton Bersin, and Brad Nortman are the notables, but some have conditions

Luke we have the option of adding a 5th year to his contract before the end of this May

TD, Cotchery, and Harper are technically signed beyond this year, but those extra years in the contract will void after this season--extra years were added for cap space in the 2014 season to reduce the signing bonus cap charge

Cam could have the franchise tag used on him if we can't agree on a contract extension

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
