Why Picking up Jonathan Martin was a Waste of Time...

Mike Remmers was so bad he couldn't stick on the Broncos, the Bucs, the Chargers, or the Vikings.  He gets here and lines up next to Turner in our scheme and suddenly he looks like a 10 year starter.

 

I don't know what to expect from either Oher or Martin, but I do expect us to be better at LT than we were last year.  One of them will likely work well next to Norwell, and will be at least as good as if not better than Bell was.  And all of the cherry-picked game tape designed to make me angry at the prospect of Martin starting won't change that.  That's particularly true of college tape, it was around when he was drafted and people who do this for a living gave him a second round grade.

 

One thing is for sure--come late October when Oher/Rookie/Whoever goes down and we need a stopgap for a couple of games, it's nice to know that we'll have someone with a little experience instead of a big Canadian turnstile out there.

This is a valid point. However, if Coaches Matsko and Brown can make a former DL (Chandler) and a JAG (Bell) into a couple of serviceable Tackles, then I'm sure they can mold True Tackles into something that represents NFL quality.

The guy comes here looking to turn things around and he is met with a bunch of cynical armchair GMs, killing time between shifts at Sonic. 

 

The one thing I noticed about your video full of carefully-selected plays--he was not wearing a Panther uniform in any of them.  Let's support him like we should have supported Mitchell, Ginn, Remmers, Glanton, Boston, Benwikere, etc---all people I saw blasted by our own Panther fans before they ever saw the field.

      Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game

      I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
