What's hilarious is they hired Cho who specifically laid out the plan to tank all because we wanted to avoid this exact scenario after the post-Orlando playoff sweep.

People want to criticize the 76ers for building teams not meant to win, but that's a franchise that from the top-down is committed to a plan and they are sticking to it come hell or high water, and I respect the heck out of them for doing it. Not to mention with all the picks they've accumulated, they could be really interesting going forward. (By the way, their .228 winning percentage so far this year more than doubles Charlotte's 2011-12 team at .106)

I'd rather have a plan and stick to it than whatever just happened, because we wound up right back in no man's land with a capped out roster with a very limited ceiling. What's sad is you could actually see the plan coming together, accumulating lottery talent and growing together over a few years, but they signed Al Jefferson, a move that, when it's all said and done, will prove to be one of the biggest mistakes this team ever made. The rest, as they say, is history.

Good point with this. I don't really agrwe with the "all in for the tank" plan, but at least they know what the fug they want to do.

Here's the thing, though. They're only getting rid of the players with limited ceilings and only go after the BPA (people forget that the Sixers wanted to try to move up and get Wiggins last year and settled for Embiid.) I don't see them moving on from Noel, Embiid, or the rights to Saric. Everybody knew MCW was the byproduct of a terrible rookie class, so, while he still held some value, the Sixers shipped him off for the Lakers pick which could be as high as 6 in this much better draft and even higher as it loses protection going forward. They also have Miami's first and OKC's, depending on if the Thunder make the playoffs and how far they go. Not to mention the ton of 2nd round picks they are famous for accumulating and their own pick.

So, let's say they get pick 3 in this draft. That's a prime spot to select DeAngelo Russell. If it's lower than that, they have the flexibility to trade up to get him or select someone else as they continue to build the roster. All of a sudden, going into next season, the Sixers have a starting five of:

PG: Russell

SG: Booker (Miami pick)

SF: (Saric? Probably doesn't come over from Europe yet)

PF: Noel

C: Embiid

Not to mention the Lakers pick and others going forward to build off what would be a really high-ceiling young core. There's not a GM in the world that would take MCW over DeAngelo Russell right now.

That's the kind of analytical, forward-thinking general managing we thought we were getting in Cho, but it looks to just be more of the same. How much of it is MJ's influence I suppose we'll never know, but this is a prime example of why you don't build around mid-level talent, especially as a small market where the free agent options are limited as it is.

Oh well, better luck next rebuild...

I don't respect a team that can't win 25 games for years.

I also still don't understand why Kemba gets so much hate. I guess it's because PG is the basketball equivalent of QB, and when the Panthers struggle, Cam gets a lot of the blame. But to call Kemba's contact "a bad deal" when the cap is rising significantly, well that just shows one of two things:

Blind Kemba hate (like our resident idiots, pantherfan49 and chuck's not-yet-banned account);

Lack of knowledge about the game of basketball, market values and cap analysis.

This is why I don't post much on here or on the other Hornets forum anymore. Both of them are filled with retarded Kemba hate, unrequited MKG love for Charlotte's most overrated player ever in any sport (and that's even including the respect he deserves for his defense), ripping Clifford and, last but not least, a ton of retarded depth charts, Chuck pining for more point guards and people talking out of their asses because they can't control their emotions after getting pounded in a wholly expected loss to any number of Eastern Conference foes.

Kemba's deal isn't bad considering Alec Burks got 10.5 per. We will never be more than a mediocre team with Kemba Walker being the guy, but he isn't nearly the biggest problem right now.

Also "overrated"

Hornets with MKG: 27-25

Hornets without MKG: 6-21

Most people don't think MKG is a star, he's just probably the only thing we have to be excited about going forward.

A good contract for a PG is the one the Hawks got Jeff Teague on. Reasonable salary at 8 mil per for a player that's a good bit better than our PG on both ends of the court.

Somebody will inevitably counter that Teague's deal was signed a year earlier and while that's true, it doesn't justify overpaying an inferior player by 4 mil more than your division rival just locked up their starting PG for.

Also, Teague's team is first in their division with a bunch of not household name players. Hornets are gonna win 30 some games in the same division despite having a big man centerpiece on offense, an elite wing defender, and some decent role players. This team's shortcomings need to fall at the feet of the coach or the PG.

Your PG makes everyone better, not just in game but as they progress in their careers. And not having a good PG on a young team is a kiss of death to an NBA franchise.

Who is the big man centerpiece of which you speak? Zeller? Because I didn't see one this year. Decent role players where? Again, Zeller and who else? You're really grasping at straws, why not just tell us why Kemba is your least-favorite player so we can have a good laugh, Chuck can jack off to the post and we can get on with our lives?

27-25? Yay for mediocrity

If you can't be excited about MKG then you might as well not be a fan, because there is little to nothing else to be excited about.

Oh don't get me wrong. MKG is a wonderful defender (that's about all he can do) but don't over hype him like he's going to be our center piece for the next 10 years. To me he's just as expendable as anybody else on this team. But we can't do that
