Players that came to the Panthers on previous rookie tryout camps...

 

DT Micanor Regis

Tried out in 2013.  Made the 90 man camp roster and later the Practice Squad.  Stuck around in 2014 and saw some time on the 53 man roster late in the season.  Will attend training camp again this year.

 

T David Foucault 

Tried out in 2014,  Made the camp roster and survived final cuts.  Saw action in five games, starting one.  Will attend camp with the Panthers again this season as a backup/project OL.

 

LB Ben Jacobs

Tried out in 2013.  Made the camp roster and the Practice Squad.  Was promoted to the 53 man roster midway into the season after Jon Beason was traded. Has shown himself to be a solid special teams player.

 

WR Brenton Bersin

Went to training camp in 2012 but didn't stick.  Was invited back on a tryout basis in 2013.  Made the camp roster and the Practice Squad.  Came to camp again in 2014 and made the final roster.  Played in fifteen games with one start and made some clutch first down catches for the offense.

 

C Brian Folkerts

Tried out in 2013.  Made the camp roster and the Practice Squad.  Was promoted to the active roster as of week three. Since then has seen action as a special teamer and backup offensive lineman.  Currently the primary backup to center Ryan Kalil.

It's easy to dismiss this weekend's "tryout guys" but the Panthers have seen some previous tryout guys earn some real playing time.

 

You never know.  Someone from this weekend's squad just might make it too.  If now now, maybe down the road.

In his interview after the first day of rookie camp, Rivera said they may be looking to sign "four or five" of the tryout guys.

 

That fits where they are roster-wise (86 of 90).

The first thing I always do after the 1st season of Madden is re-sign Folkerts.

Rivera mentioned that a few tryout guys stood out, but didn't name any names.
