No surprise here:

Merriman's accuser plans civil suit

Posted by Mike Florio on September 11, 2009 9:42 PM ET

To no surprise, the woman who accused Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman of false imprisonment and battery isn't happy with the decision not to prosecute him.

And, to no surprise, Tila Tequila Nguyen will pursue the day in court that prosecutors have declined to provide her, by filing a civil lawsuit against Merriman.

The disclosure comes at the conclusion of the following statement issued by Nguyen's representative to TMZ.com:

"Tila Tequila is the victim of a violent crime. The San Diego District attorney's decision not to press charges against Shawne Merriman for the battering of Tila Tequila demonstrates an unconscionable negligence in the discharging of their public duties. We strongly feel that justice has not been served in this matter.

"Obviously, The San Diego Charger's NFL franchise brings millions of dollars in revenue to the city of San Diego, and it seems clear that other interests are being served by the DA's office than the upholding of the law. A young woman was violently beaten and choked, and the physical evidence is both overwhelming and disturbing. Tila's account of the events has remained consistent from the beginning, while Merriman's story has changed repeatedly.

"Just because the DA has made this reckless decision doesn't mean that justice will not be served in this case. No one is above the law. Tila Tequila will immediately begin pursuing civil charges against Mr. Merriman and she will have her day in court."

Ok, a couple of things:

To break news of this pending legal action and serious allegations of assault and false imprisonment, she goes to...TMZ? Sure, I get it. Because when I think about big breaking legal news, I think about the site that got famous for showing Paris Hilton a video of people bashing her and filming her tearful reaction. Yeah, and I think I'll go check Perez Hilton to see his analysis of the Dow Jones.

Second, she went by "Tila Tequila" in this statement? It might just be me, but an assault case seems like one of those instances where it's prudent to drop the ole' stage name.

To me, this just seems like another calculated move by someone who has already proven herself to be a master of self-promotion.

The point still remains though. A 250 pound linebacker assaults you you are going to have marks.

I agree, just not about the steroid talk.

He paid his price, and has been clean since. Not saying that I am a huge fan of his, but I would say that about any other player as well.

Actually Tila revealed pics wt bruises on her arms on tmz.com. She had a lil one on her neck but her arms looked pretty bad. They look real but who knows. Tila is going nuts on twitter lol. Now she's going after Chris Brown on twitter.

Doctor found no revealing marks of an assault. I'll trust the doctor before some attention money grubbing *****.

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
