How about a little love for Pep?

I hate to be a prick, but if you are so in there with JP and his buds. Why on Earth are you coming to an internet forum to get the latest Panthers chat?

Fair question. First off Im a huge fan of the team but I dont know 80% of the team and the players, so believe it or not I like to come here still to fill in some holes. I especially dont know more players every year a new rookie class comes in and current players move on/retire. Eventually I probably wont know any active players due to multiple reasons. But of the players (and players friends and associates) I am friends with I dont tap them for info, I just catch stuff in in passing. Most dont talk a ton about work. Another thing is this place does have a lot of links and posts from players and coaches all combined in one place so its a nice place to catch up on that stuff.

Also I dont post much because I dont like the world of assumption and opinion. Things are either one way or another for the most part with these guys and if I cant get info from the horses mouth I dont chat about it or worry about it enough to post a bunch about it.

Ok, happy to play this game, although no one will ever know if it's true or not.

What is it that has made him less interested in football and/or the Panthers, is it something that can be ignited again? Or has he always been this way? What is it that he would rather be doing?

Thats tough to put my finger on (since I am more of a friend of a friend to JP) but I did ask him if it was basketball and he kinda shrugged. He shrugs a lot instead of answering. I know he has been a very large pot smoker in the past and has never felt like he was meant to be a football player. He was playing his best during this time but I did not know anyone who knew (or JP himself) him until 05 ish so I cant speak to his early years.

My position is what the hell else could he be good at other than football!? He just seems to feel like it takes someone very intense and a little off their rocker to be an animal on the field and he doesnt consider himself that kind of guy. I think he as just defeated himself mentally.

I feel that he just enjoys a muuuuch more laid back life than what he as gotten himself into and is just in a rut. He doesnt plan on quitting the NFL (obviously) but I dont foresee him giving us or anyone else 100% without an epiphany or someone who can motivate him.

Peppers is still elite. He just doesn't have three other star players on the defensive front any more. When he was able to play one-on-one, he was great. Same thing happened to Jevon Kearse, once teams were able to gameplan just for him, he suddenly looked average.

It's always all about the lines.

It's been shown all over the world that he can't dominate at one on one also.....so no. Not even.

He couldn't even dominate Jed Clampett from what he has displayed with his "one on one" performances.

oh please. who does mario williams have on that line with him? who does John Abraham have on that line with him? who did derrick burgess have on the line with him in 2005?

lol. peppers doesn't see anything but one on ones. you pretend like he's being double teamed by a tackle and guard.

oh wow they waited 3.5 years to figure him out then suddenly did so at the same time he blew out his ankle and knee

what a coinky dink

excuse me i forgot sacks are the end all be all stat now and excuse a player vanishing for the rest of the game

(hint they're not)

Funny you should say that, since all the Peppers bashing started two years ago and it was based 100% on his low sack total. Nobody cared how many hurries, tackles for loss, or passes defensed Peppers had in 07. They saw 21/2 sacks and it pissed them off.

Also, I'll ask you directly...do you think the Panthers D-line would actually be better off without Peppers?

I'll answer you directly, even though not directed at me.

Seeing as how this organization has penciled him in as more important than any other needs on this team.........No...not at this point.

But that decision has cost us all the way across the board in roster/position/cap terms.

Think what you must, hell...bury your head in his crotch for all I care, but as John Fox says.....It is.....what it is, and that IS what he has cost us.

It is the truth, so get over it.

The same fvukers that complain about other poo, wanna jump on defending Pep being here, when we suck because of it.
