Favre throws Jets under the bus

Old No. 4 (you remember him, don't do?) didn't do the Jets any favors today when he suggested that his legendary right arm was in such bad shape at the end of last season that he should've been benched.

Brett Favre, speaking in his weekly news conference in Minnesota, said the Jets knew during the season that his right biceps tendon was torn. Reading Favre's quotes, it sounds like he wanted to sit down, but that the coaches and front office pushed him into playing.

This is a serious charge by Favre. He never was listed on the injury report by the Jets. (Gee, what a surprise, considering secretive Eric Mangini, who won't even reveal his starting QB in Cleveland, was in charge.) The league has strict rules on injury reports, and commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't like deception. That is a serious injury for a quarterback, and he's basically saying the Jets covered it up.

This topic came up today in Minnesota because reporters were asking Favre about his Iron Man streak of 269 consecutive starts and whether he'd be receptive to sitting if he got banged up.

"Absolutely. I was receptive to (sitting) last year," Favre said. "When we finally did an MRI and found out I had a torn biceps last year, I felt like, with about four or five games left, that even though I was making some pretty good throws and some decent plays, I felt like I was doing the team more harm because I was missing on some throws."

Bullshit, he just started playing like poo in the latter half as usual and was fortunate enough to have an injury come up to blame it on. How do we know he didn't injure it in the last game of the season after he already started his annual late season downward spiral. this guy is a fuging clown shoe, an A-1 me-first gimme gimme assclown. "I would've sat" bullshit Favre, bullshit.

Naturally he HAS to say this right before a Mangini coached team is playing them even though it happened 10+ months ago. He is a self centered sack of sh**.

:yesnod:

You do have to wonder about the timing. He had countless interviews that I saw where the subject of his declining performance was questioned. He would dodge it.

I used to be a big supporter but now he is turning into some kind of media hound. Faveruh suxxors!

He's gonna bring Chilly down too which I will love watching.

Favre is one of the biggest examples in NFL history of the emperor with no clothes.

Will the media and other knob slobbers EVER see through this guy? Nope.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
