Weekly Fantasy Football Contests, Pinned

I played a little last year but it is really interesting this year.  So I thought it would be useful to have a pinned thread for those who play on sites like FanDuel.com , Draftkings.com and NC-based FantasyDraft.com

If you haven't played the challenge is to fill out a weekly lineup that hits a home-run or near home-run at every position.  You can swing for the fences and pay to join the big payout leagues or just go for the $5-10 50/50 leagues (where you only have to beat half the entries) or you can do a combo like I do.

Maybe it's because my "regular" fantasy teams are doing so poorly but the strategy of having to pick winners in every position, every week but limited by your salary cap is really fun and incredibly tricky.

Here is a good article on some winners for this week, https://lockerroom.fantasydraft.com/2015/09/29/next-aaron-rodgers-week-four-potential-jackpots/

I would personally add Latavius Murray and Joseph Randle to that list.  Also fun is the fact that Panther players like Cam, Olsen and our defense/ST's are real options this week (again).

Anybody can pick the top guys but filling out a winning lineup really depends on that RB2 and WR2 or flex (on FantasyDraft) that you chose to fit into your lineup.

Please use this thread to share your observations, picks and questions.

sorry I missed that Nate.  Actually not.  First week my lineup did not at least double up my investments.

You really have to pick a lineup that contributes up and down the roster.  One dud and you are out of the money.  Pretty interesting strategy.

What contests do you play? I stick to the 20,50, or 100 person 50/50s with 5 or 10 dollar entry fees. Doesn't matter if you finish 1st or 50th (100 person) you double your money. I deposited $30 in week 2 and I'm up to $130 in my account. Not too shabby considering it makes Sundays and MNF even more of a blast and I planned on losing it anyways.

I put $50 in both Fan Duel and in FantasyDraft  and have both accounts a tad over $100.  I do the same thing and enter 3 contests per week in the 50/50 $5 to $10 range and have been pretty good about doubling my money but came up short last week.  In Week 3 I splurged and put $25 on the big contest and got back $40 in both sites and then promptly lost $25 this past week in both.

But the way to go is just like you say, stay in the smaller leagues and just try to double up.

But there is a ton of luck involved so I'm staying at this small level and just enjoying it until it the account goes to zero!

I'm still naive enough to avoid picking falcon players (and I feasted on Cam, Greg and our D for some games!) so this week I may pick a few falcons just to hex them!

I noticed in FanDuel if you enter a contest early in the week, say, Wednesday..... you can substitute players up until their game on Sunday, unless they play Thursday night of course.

But on the FantasyDraft site once you submit a lineup before Thursday, even if none of your players play on Thursday, your lineup becomes "locked" and no subs allowed.  Which I thought was pretty piss poor.

I do like the differences in salary cap between the two sites though.

Also, I am careful to look at the scoring of each contest.  There are games where qb's get the edge, or where rb's get the edge and a lot of PPR scoring to take into account or not take into account.  Even defensive scoring can be different.

Like I said, I agree with you that the smaller leagues are better but several times I find that by the time I look at the scoring rules and see if it matches my preferred lineup the league will fill up!

Still need to fill 3 spots for a 2$ contest this week!

Think you just got your 20. Worked out well, I haven't played this year and had $2 left in my account from last year. It was my destiny to join and dominate! Of course only having $2 left over from last year doesn't say much for my abilities.

I picked some duds (Charles) last week and lost across the board.  So important to get good to great production at every spot.  So far I have entered the same lineup in all three contests I enter weekly but considering changing it up.  Also, I am going to go with my gut and leave $200-300 on the board rather than reach for someone just because it evens out by payroll.

I agree with this sometimes I'll have as much as 5 or 600 remaining.
