People who wrote Jared Allen off during his first game

He was decent against a backup LT. The sack was great, but he was pretty quiet the rest of the night. I would like to see more consistent pressure.

Consistent pressure is a relatively rare thing.  I would hazard a guess that even the best pass rushing teams don't put significant pressure on the passer more than 25% of throws.  And usually sacks come against weaker opponents or opponents who make a mistake.

I think our pressure on the passers has improved significantly over the last three games.  In large part due to the additions of Delaire and Allen.

I thought our pressure was pretty good.  It just wasn't consistently from Allen, which is perfectly fine.  We were getting pressure from the inside-out.  That's actually better, because they can't keep keying on a single guy.

The first game with us I saw him play in, I thought he looked slow. But, I didn't know he had a pinched nerve. Against the Eagles, I thought he did very well.

FWIW, Allen has never been a speed rusher, or a power rusher for that matter.  He's more of a technician than anything else.  Jordan Gross talked about it when we first got Allen.

I don't need to play or need to know the play call to know his assignment. A DE has three possible assignments on passing plays. 1. Rush the passer, 2. Drop into coverage, 3. Play contain against a scrambling threat. Bradford is not a scrambling threat in anyway so his only possible assignments were to rush the passer and drop into coverage.

He played 78/83 defensive snaps. The Eagles dropped back to pass 51 times. He dropped into coverage at the most 6 times. That means he rushed the passer at least 40 times, 30+ of which were against a backup scrub. He should generate more pressure than 1 sack and a couple hurries in 40 pass rush snaps against a backup LT.

Seem Rivera was please but then again your Madden 2016 verifies all your knowledge.

Guys like you make me sick.  Think cause they watch the game and maybe even a little tape that you know more about what goes on than the staff.

Did you ever think that maybe the pressure he causes makes the QB step up right into Short who did have 3 sacks?
