Hornets vs Trailblazers

Kind of overlooked due to our huge Panther win today, but we've got a really good basketball team lol.

We are up on the Blazers 71 -45 at the half, everyone is passing, and everyone seems to be hitting.  Al is 9/9 with 20 points and Batum is killing with 20 points and 6 assists.  Awesome.

I like Clifford but he's mismanaged this game horribly. Stopped coaching and assumed they were waving the white flag.

Bench has been a let down. Now he's closing with Al when we need stops. Hmmmm.

Yeah, thats part of the reason we lost to chicago, Friday.

Lamb, Batum, and Lin have been all awesome additions.

The front office appears to have finally acknowledged that:

1. Analytics work and

2. The D-League has value

Unfortunately it took them this long to get with the times while successful teams, particularly in the West, have been operating like this for years. I just wish they were more proactive instead of reactive.

Maybe they'll figure out drafting eventually...

Pretty good game, aside from the horrible coaching. Clifford either needs to figure this out now or leave town with Jefferson.

That's another thing I accepted yesterday. Jefferson had a ton of points, but he was getting them in obnoxious ways. He is not a fit at all on this team and he needs to be traded or bought out. That would really tell me we're headed in the right direction, which I think we are.

Chuck's back? Looks like I'll go back to RealGM

*looks at RealGM, remembers the cesspool it also is even when Chuck isn't there

Haha. RealGM isn't that bad, but it certainly has its flaws. The Hornets folks are way too optimistic sometimes and have followed a mediocre franchise with much more gusto than this franchise has ever deserved, particularly in the Bobcats years. I've always been more into following football over basketball so I guess it's a matter of preference, but still...

On the positive side they have the sense of humor that comes from dealing with years of mediocrity.

The General Board is where the cesspool of hot-takers and bandwagon folks reside. They worship the uber-analytic folks like Hinkie and think he's just so far ahead of the curve despite the results, while franchises like Charlotte just trying to put a respectable product out on the floor every night are ripped as "treadmill" franchises.

I suppose most here are like me where it's Panthers 1st, Hornets 2nd depending on the type of season each is having and I like the more casual, yet knowledgeable board here. Obviously we can be really reactionary about the Hornets but at least here we all remember our QB is Cam Newton, smile and move on.

Wish there was more of a crowd in here but on a Panthers-centric board with all the headlines they're making it's understandable.

I think they're even more pessimistic and negative. That's why I don't care for RealGM either. Constant bitching and if a guy struggles once, trade him. Basically 50 Chucks with slightly better grammar.

    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
