Too many of you assign this 'elite' status to players that Gettleman has brought to the Panthers who have barely played a single season for the team, and have not even been a whisper for a pro bowl - nevermind all pro status.

None of the players Gettleman has added in his 3 years would be considered elite. You have above average and good players listed, but that makes for a mediocre to average team.

The Jaguars have good players. The Bucs have good players. The Raiders have good players. That is what good gets you in the NFL.

Just be glad Hurney gave this team the players to carry it to success in spite of the depth and the coaches. Also, be glad the coaches finally trusted their star players to lead the team on game day.

If you don't think that KK is elite, you don't watch football.  In addition to that, who the fug cares about Pro Bowls?  Davis has never been to one.

Im just going to leave this here

Several liked the pick, but many were not to happy we got Ealy over Moses.  And many were upset how the saints grabbed Corner Stanley-JP (the corner the cut early this season) prior to falling to us.

Watching Ealy work Moses made it so sweet knowing we have Gettleman in charge.  Hurney would have picked up and gone straight for need (see Everette Brown, Dwayne Jarrett, Armanti, etc)

First, I didn't assign "elite" status to anyone. ProFootballFocus did. I'm simply relaying to you that a website that ranks players on a play by play basis against players in similar roles says Short is one of the best at his position. If you disagree that's fine, though I'll bet right now it's more out of a desire to be right than an expert comparative analysis of NFL defensive tackles.

Second, if you agree that assigning an elite status to players who have "barely played a single season for the team", why are you drawing the arbitrary line of GM success at All Pro? It's almost as if you're intentionally picking the criteria that's going to support your opinions....

    • Anybody got a clue what this is supposed to mean? 🤔
    • I figured as much. Hopefully he's just resting up and will be ready for round 3 (if we make it that far.)  Sucks to see. Hes been our best defender (besides Slavin) in the playoffs so far.
    • I've never bought into the idea. There's just too much at stake, even for front office people. Jobs are lost, trust is lessened, lives are altered, reputations are damaged and more. Throw in that the average front office person isn't as young as the average player. They may not have ten years ahead of them to salvage their careers. Any given year could be their last. The only person not guaranteed to suffer some direct form of consequence from losing is the owner, and even there you still have problems (fan reaction, team reputation, revenue, etc). You've also got massive egos in play on that front so it can get personal. Mind you, I do accept that there are "fire sales" in order to build for the future, but even those have consequences. They don't exactly guarantee success either. Poorly run teams often just wind up in the same circumstance a few years down the road. Sorry gus, but my tinfoil hat just hasn't fit me for quite a while.
