To those of you saying that we are "rebuilding", or that we suck, or that we can't beat the good teams what do you have to say about last season? Was losing Norman that huge of a loss that it caused us to go into rebuilding mode? Y'all make no sense.

It was not just Norman that the Panthers lost. Yes, that was a big hit, but you have to look at it like a house of cards. When you pull one card out, how many others will fall?

Norman, Tillman, Harper, and Coleman were replaced with...

Bradberry, Worley, Coleman, and Boston.

The new unit has to match the production from the previous unit with turnovers. That is a total of 22 turnovers. The secondary is not near as physical or opportunistic as last year. Last year that secondary created turnovers. Norman was a big loss, moving Coleman from FS was a big loss, Tillman was a fair loss, and Coleman is not physical enough to force fumbles like Harper in the box. This loss of production affects the LBs, DL, and offense.

Also, the Panthers have led in every game at the half by a total margin of +16 - an average of +5.3. That is down from their average of +9.1 margin at the half last season. The coaches go conservative in the 2nd half with a lead, just like last year. They have only scored 3 points in the second half combined for the their losses.

The issue now is the Panthers are not ahead by 2 scores at the half and have a less opportunistic defense in the 2nd half of games compared to last season. The defense averaged 1.7 turnovers and 1.9 sacks in the 2nd half last season while preserving a lead. This year they are averaging 1.3 turnovers and 1 sack in the 2nd half. That extra score at the half and the extra turnover and sack in the 2nd half make all the difference.

    • Taking only players from the sheet that are realistically available in or after the listed round, I’d like… 1st: DT Caleb Banks (Styles not realistic) 2nd: LB Jacob Rodriguez 3rd: OT Best available from Bowry, Barber, and Casey 4th: CB Daylen Everette 5th: S Jalen Huskey 6th: RB Adam Randall 7th: IOL Best available from Lemieux, Dawkins, Leausa, and Brose   I know nothing about some of the players listed, but it seems like that would be the best way it could fall for now. I’m sure the list of who we meet will change a ton, and there will also be players we don’t meet with to keep quiet. I’d love to pick up Randall in the late rounds.
    • Not what I said. They know within the building why we aren't utilizing TEs more. If the rumors were true that we were seriously pursuing a couple of decent receiving TEs that strongly points toward a lack of quality receiving TEs currently on the roster. Does that mean we consider drafting one at 19? I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me and if we did there's only one guy it would be. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see TE drafting somewhere in the first three rounds.
    • Yeah, I don’t know. Tepper was behind the Bryce selection. Behind firings and hiring over his lack of development.  He doesn’t have to literally tell them their hands are tied for them to know this. It is in the air constantly. The Canales Bryce play calling was even portrayed by more than one person as Canales failing Bryce, instead of Bryce being responsible for his own performance (except when he does well, then it is all him). Now they have an extra coach in, to help the new OC get results from this QB.  The atmosphere is not welcoming to prototypical young QBs that have talent. You get Jake Plummer types or old vets. I think we are stuck.
