is your argument that the braves didn't win more world series because their pitchers couldn't pitch in the post season?

because if so it's easily refuted by readily available statistical information and i can't even believe you're using wins

kevin greene do you understand that the braves batting .254 in the series against the yankees had more to do with them losing than the pitchers 2.33 era

It's alright. I always figured you were a closet Falcon fan.

Or, the game is in front of Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and Avery.

Do what you have to do to win.

Or don't.

My God, Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux and Milwood were swept by the '99 Yankees.

These guys suck when it matters.

All they need next year is a corner outfielder and a 1st basemen (if they don't keep LaRoche or if he does his annual first half snooze), they need about 30+ more HRs to their lineup. When Derek Lowe is gonna be your 4th starter, you're doing ok in that area. The team has Hudson's option for 2010 so if they want him, it'll be because they want to. Middle relief is gonna be OK since Gonzo figured out how to pitch after the break, Medlen will be a bit older, and hell even Campillo may be back. If not, you can always sign some scrub which is what 90% of teams do. Soriano may be back. I'd like to see Anderson and Church back to fill out a decent bench, hoping Diaz comes back too...most of their expiring contracts are fringe/bench players. Not a bad shopping list considering the mess this past offseason was. But if they don't get that corner outfielder and 1st basemen, it'll be another year of sketchy offense supporting pretty good pitching. Eh, the Marlins are going to have a firesale this winter so most of the league will get some decent players, cheap.

The Braves fortunes turned on Mark Wohlers grooving that pitch to Leyritz. Jack Morris was disgustingly unhittable that Series and fug Kent Hrbek.

    • In that case its in his best interest to fully recover.
    • Looks like we're fifth in running plays/play action plays when in the lead and about 10th in the league when we fall behind.  The biggest thing I take from this is not that we drop off like that, because every team does, but that we drop off so much. A lot of the best teams don't  drop off much, depending on the game situation, preferring to stick to their game plan through out. Some of those are very good teams. Baltimore barely deviates from their run/action heavy plan. At the other end, KC also barely deviates, but they have one of the least run oriented attacks in the league by these stats. On the other side, there are teams that make even bigger shifts (based on last year's performance) and they are teams that for various reasons found themselves in desperation attempts. Dallas, Atlanta, the Browns, Bucs and Bengals were all literally throwing out their game plans and trying to either lean on their top end QB or were just frantically trying to create something downfield. Considering the years of us completely abandoning the run (oh those Matt Rhule days), maybe we are starting to stabilize. Don't even get me started on the Reich days...
    • I am kindof in the camp that its not an addiction for him just a dumb ass kid who didnt think he would get caught.  I think the "addiction" angle was the story they went with in hopes of not being banned for life   But I doubt we show interest as I think he is going to be pricey (Draft capital wise)
