What kind of a record would make Richardson pull the trigger?

Widely believed Fox was on hotseat last year. I think after the apparent disaster of trading away next year 1st rounder appears to be, a 6-10 record gets Jerry thinking hard about, 5-11 and Jerry starts making calls see who wants the job, 4-12 and Fox is gone.

John Fox (a defensive minded coach) has let this defense get worse over the last couple of years. His defenses are soft in coverage, and the defensive line is awful. While Fox may not negotiate contracts, he is ultimately responsible for making sure that he communicates what is working, what isn't and what he needs to fix it. If Fox had wanted to get rid of Peppers, it would have happened. You can bet that he was heavily involved in making the recommendation on this one. In doing so, he made a consistent under-achiever the highest paid defensive player in the league this year. More importantly, it has totally hamstrung the organization in free agency. The reality is that this team is talented and with the right schemes and a couple of key additions, this team could be of championship caliber.

Fox and Hurney have never drafted for need but rather went for the best player available (in their minds). This is killing the Panthers. The Panthers have needed help at safety and especially DT for years. Other than drafting Godfrey in the third round, they have done nothing to address either. Godfrey starts, but the alternatives are horrible. I could go on with additional poor personnel decisions he has had a hand in making but I won't because they have been well documented. I will say that I believe it is arrogant for them to think that they can marginal players and make them great. This is a talent driven league. If the talent isn't there, you cannot win. Our talent level is perilously thin at very key positions. This falls on Fox and Hurney.

Where I believe Fox has really failed is hiring and keeping poor coordinators with new millenium schemes.. His coordinators are nothing more than caretakers of his philosophies. He refuses to hire known entities or young up and coming coordinators.

While Fox may have the third highest winning %, I would remind you that he has a losing record against teams with a winning record overall. He hasn't won a big game since 2005 when the Panthers beat the Bears in the playoffs. That's a long time for a team that strives to win a Super Bowl anytime soon.

Finally, I think you can see evidence in the media after every game where there are tons of comments about "we are a work in progress", "we are going to turn this around", "It's not Jake's fault, it's our fault etc. etc. In other words, while our players readily are willing to fall on their swords and take blame, nothing is getting fixed. It's nothing but, "Don't worry about it. We'll get it fixed". Sorry, but Panther fans are smarter than that. We don't want to hear excuses or the blame game. We want wins. The Future is Now as George Allen used to say. I for one was a Fox supporter for a long time. The reality is, it is time for a change. I for one don't want to wait another year "to get it fixed".

    • I am too. Frank became completely disinterested in the HC job after the draft.
    • down 24 and we get our first possession in the 3rd and what happens?  run TE checkdown TE checkdown run run run RB checkdown TE checkdown run TE checkdown incomplete TE checkdown run now on the 4 yard line- Renfrow TD and POOF!  3rd quarter is over.  That's not a team even trying to get back into the game in reality.  That's just the Panthers taking freebies to make it look respectable in the end and guess what? Bryce gets to pad on 6/7 to his stat line in exchange for making the 3rd quarter disappear.  Not sure the hyper focus on the depth of the corners.  Cardinals were going to simply drop and allow the easy stuff underneath.  Which they did.  Did they play a random short yardage play a little different? Sure.  That doesn't' mean they weren't just letting the Panthers overall eat clock to bring the game to an end.  The Cards strategy was fine on D.  You just don't generally see teams implement it as early as they did but they were up pretty big.  It's the other units for the Cards that fugged the plan up.  again, it's 3 drives,  the ONE in the 3rd quarter and only drive of the entire quarter and the 2 to open the 4th.  Cardinals gave Bryce stuff in exchange for clock  (and the result was slow long drives eating the clock).  The rest of the game? They didn't.  The rest of the game outside of those 3 drives the Cards weren't in garbage allowance mode and Bryce stunk
    • But a serious question is, does he not see a guy come open because he misses seeing them on the field, which happens to every QB, or, is his vision blocked by the wide bodies in front of him instead of the helmets other QBs experience? For instance missing a wide open Chuba. Did he not see him or could he literally not see him? I tend to think the latter is a far bigger problem than we're being led to believe it is.
