Christian Mccaffrey is a more logical choice

I agree that 8th overall pick is too rich for him.

But he has one strength which you don't see from Fournette's game.

Patience, and great Agility.  His Le'Veon Bell-esque running style very impress me.

He also has good vision and knows how to make people miss.

Considering his skillset in passing game, we should evaluate him very closely.

Strange to me that people keep mentioning us picking Cook.  At least 3 run ins with the law (robbery, poss of gun, battery) and it isnt like he is all that big and he will fumble as well.  I dont see us picking him.  McCafferry is a perfect citizen so that alone makes him more likely to be a Panther.. and obviously 8 is too rich for McCafferry with the talent in that top 10.

I knew about the last alleged offense regarding punching the girl, but I was unaware of the other stuff. I believe in second chances, but Cook's history of getting in trouble is at odds with the Carolina Culture. I mean, those are some serious charges that he's had to contend with over the years, and even if I were inclined to give him some benefit of doubt, I have to seriously question his choices and choice of friends.

I think that McCaffrey and Cook are closer than people think as far as upside and potential, and even if that's not true, I believe that some GMs are going to have that perception. Once you throw in McCaffrey's character, then he becomes the better gamble (value).

As far as McCaffrey, don't we need a backup RB (especially if Stewart stays another year), and a slot WR and a KR and maybe even PR (if Ginn goes).  McCaffrey checks all those boxes.

If Fornette goes earlier I'd be pretty stoked with moving down in the 13-17 range grab another pick and get the OT.  Then move up and grab McCaffrey.  That would work.

    • I said the conservative play calling was because Canales doesn't think we can win shootouts. Yes, I did say part of that was because of the young, inexperienced receivers and that the OL is better suited for run blocking. I should have also included Young as part of the reason as well but I was responding to the post concerning "young receivers" and Thielens' absence. I am not so enamored with Young that I think all his problems are simply because of the receivers. I do think they overpaid for him and he has not lived up to the cost. He has had his struggles, as does pretty much every rookie qb thrown into a bad situation. But I have seen enough good things to have hope that he continues to get better. The OP is just pointing out how his performance late in the games when the game is on the line is one of those good things.
    • I think it goes both ways  It could be they are used to pocket passers, not someone who constantly has to create throwing zones for himself with pocket movement  point being, whether it is Young or the receivers or the sun or the moon or the wind, can’t win in the nfl without the threat of a downfield attack
