Panthers offense vs defensive rank position...

Points -  Defense Rank

23 - 28

9 - 22

13 - 20

33 - 32

27 - 21

23 - 14

3 - 8

17 - 29

Items of note:

Panthers have scored 30+ just once, against the worst defense in the league.

Panthers have played one top 10 defense, scored 3 points.

Predictably, Panthers offense performs mediocre against mediocre defenses.

Looking ahead:

Falcons defensive rank is 11 currently. Indicates the Panthers likely score 14 - 21 points this Sunday.

The Falcons actually have the second best defense the Panthers have faced so far.

Dolphins game coming up, currently have 7th ranked defense. Could be trouble.

Vikings game in December will be against the best defense they will face all year. Need to get the offense in gear ASAP.

Other than that, the remainder of the season is against average to below average defenses. Offense could gain momentum heading into playoffs.

Playoffs? You talking about playoffs? I just hope they can win a game.

I feel like the defense is playing well enough to keep them in the hunt. Hopefully Olsen returns and the offense starts producing eventually. Could happen.

I really think the defense is a bit overrated this year. Winston had receivers running open all game and just kept missing them. The game should have been much closer than the score indicated.

The reason I think they’re a bit overrated is, the good QBs the Panthers gave faced have sliced them up (Brees, Brady, Stafford). The Panthers got lucky the Patriots and Lions have bad defenses. Their secondaries had monumental coverage breakdowns that lead to big plays so the Panthers we’re able to jump out to a lead.

The Saints somehow gave a decent D (AJ Klein probably helps) and they cleaned the Panthers clock. A good QB + competent D = Panthers loss. Falcons check that box. So do the Saints (again), Vikings as you said, maybe Green Bay if Rodgers is back.

Schedule is tougher than it looks.

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
