Panthers Defense- observations.

very impressive. we finally covered a premiere tight end, and held the Redskins to under 200 yards of total offense. I have noticed that progressively the unit as a whole has been improving.

Captain Munnerlyn- 1) when did he take over the starting spot? 2) where did Richard Marshall play?

Chris Gamble- he earned his money. Santana Moss, redskins number 1, only had 4 catches for 44 yards.

Julius Peppers- Thank god!!! Beason should talk to the O-line next. Peppers was all over the field today. 2 sacks, and helped Thomas Davis get the safety.

D-line as a whole- 5 sacks. good job throughout the game (except a few spots) getting pressure. and holding Clinton Portis to only 52 yards was an outstanding effort.

Beason and Thomas Davis- simply put, a fantastic 1,2 punch of linebackers. Nail Diggs is a good filler, but Davis and Beason shined. big stops when they count

overall, i give the Defense an A-. I would like to see more ints, but if they play like this the rest of the season, we have a shot to be in every game.

Hollis Thomas was a bigger addition that I thought he would be. The Redskins aren't exactly the league elite, but Portis is no slouch.

I was quite suprised to see Cap'n on the field as much as he was. Has he taken over the starting spot? Marshall was on the field plenty too.

Pep needs to show that kind of production against a decent opponent before I'll consider this a turnaround.

jesus christ

the redskins offense is trash and you think you just stopped a premiere offense. the panthers did what they had to do, and the redskins STOPPED chris cooley by keeping him into block

look, has this team played this good this season? no. yes, the Redskins are the worse team we have played this season, but it doesn't change the fact that the Defense had a good day. i really dont care who it was.

The previous game, we held Dallas to just 1 TD. And look at the bad field position they was in

Their offense suck too?

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
