Team Rushing Stats Through Week 15

Hoenheim

Recommended Posts

  • Jonathan Stewart : 191 carries / 661 yards / 3.5 ypc / 6 rushing TDs
  • Cam Newton : 114 carries / 643 yards / 5.6 ypc / 5 rushing TDs
  • Christian McCaffrey : 102 carries / 382 yards / 3.7 ypc / 2 rushing TDs

Whats cool is theres a striking difference between first half of season rushing stats and last half rushing stats . Here's the 1st 8 games :

  • Jstew : 110 carries / 329 yards / 3.0 ypc (Stew avg 1.2 ypc vs Detroit , had -4 yards vs the Eagles , yikes)
  • CMC : 49 carries / 117 yards / 2.4 ypc  (CMC had an aweful 4 game stretch where he got a total of 28 rushing yards vs Lions , Eagles , Bears, Bucs)

2nd half of Season

  • Jstew : 81 carries / 332 yards / 4.1 ypc ( 1.9 ypc vs ATL, 1.7 ypc vs Jets, 2.5 ypc vs Packers) (Seems like he keeps alternating between huge games and letdown games lol)
  • Cmac: 53 carries / 265 yards / 5.0 ypc (only bad game ypc wise vs the Saints, at 2.7 ypc)

+ Oline must have started blocking much between near the halfway point of the season

+ CMC averaging 5 ypc in 2nd half is great, Stew has been good as well but would be nice if he'd be consistent with those huge games

Looks like McCaffrey will finish with about 450 rushing yards and 650 receiving yards, which would be 1100 yards from scrimmage.

In the grand scheme of things , thats not really great stats but it doesnt tell the whole story about what CMC does for the offense. And especially supported by the stats above, the putrid run blocking from the 1st half of the season and CMCs lack of per game rushing touches affected his performance by a good bit.

I think if the line was blocking as well as it has been since the Falcons game, since game 1 onwards, CMC would probably have 650 rushing and 650 receiving at the end, which is 1300 yards from scrimmage, pretty good for a running back.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
