LOL, yea agree there. But, he done things even people in the North would have issues with. Like how the Smitty and Norman situations went down.  Weather or not, we agree they should have been cut, how DG done was awful.

Look at NY rallying behind Eli...crappy way to do people...weather that are from the north or south.

That's the thing. Leadership in New York has actually talked about the Smith and Norman situations, and they see them as positives.

Specifically, they called those examples of being willing to make the tough decisions and stick by them even through negative fallout.

Like I said, they do things a little differently up there.

I am referring to HOW is was done...not that it was done to start with. DG did not even have the common courtesy to speak man to man with them. I believe both, had to hear about on social media...both players deserved a little better than that...lol.

It was cowards way of doing it...my biggest issue with DG. Still rather have him than Hurney, tho.

I get all that, but the Giants owners don't give a rip about that stuff. If they did, they wouldn't have hired him in the first place, but as it turns out he was the candidate they targeted from the beginning.

If you watched his opening presser, he had a section where he talked about nobody caring about hurt feelings. The Giants approve of that philosophy.

Gettleman never meshed with Jerry Richardson's southern style, but now he's back in his element. If he fails in the current job, it won't be for personality reasons.

Don't think he will fail, other than players have away preforming really well, against former teams that screw them over...lol. Would not be surprised, when he screws enough of them...would not be surprised when his teams get knocked out (or kept out) of playoffs early due to awesome performance of jilted players (that got the smitty/norman treatment)...lol.

Just my speculating, I would not be surprised if Olsen and Johnson was about to get the same treatment (meaning, not even a phone call)...is why JR fired DG. I mean, that is DG's track recorded of how, he lets fan favorites go....lol.

Would hate to see either one of them, on a team and POed, we had to play in the playoffs...lol. Letting a fan favorite go is one thing, doing like a coward is a whole different thing.

The Patriots have been operating that way for years.

If you build a winner, nobody cares if you hurt people's feelings.

Well, nobody except Jerry Richardson.

wait til Cry Brady and Bilicheat, are gone...plus, I really do not ever hear about (from players or nfl tv or radio shows) their GM doing his cuts like DG...but, I do not follow the Pats....plus, the Pats were the darlings of the NFL at one time (until they ticked enough other owners off)...you could tell by the calls on the field, back then...lol.

Why are people still arguing about awful moves Hurney made a decade ago?

The reality is both Gettleman, and Hurney played key roles this year in the shitshow we are witnessing offensively. Neither should ever be the general manager of this franchise.

Honestly, the Steelers have been doing it even longer than the Patriots.

The 49ers dumped Joe Montana.  The Colts parted ways with Peyton Manning.  The Cowboys cut Emmitt Smith.  Jerry Rice wound up a Raider, etc.  NFL history is full of unwanted exits, and no they didn't all end with nobody getting their feelings hurt.

Truthfully, every player that gets told the team doesn't think as much of them as they do, or as much as they used to, feels it.  The difference is that most of them accept it and move on.  Others make a stink about it. And no, not just Panthers.  Favre didn't exactly go quietly into the night.

I know fans hate it when their favorite guy gets let go, but what fans hate even more is losing.  And if you don't treat it like it's a business rather than a family, that's what you're gonna do a lot of.

Well, one isn't going to be.  He's got another job, probably his last one.

The other?  Well, he is, and still will be through next season (quite possibly longer).

Unfortunately, it's not strictly a historical discussion at this point.

Lord knows I wish it were.

Well plus the obvious and easy to comprehend(for some of us at least) fact that when you blunder 3 straight drafts and only get 2 players out of those it hinders your now team since those players would be right with Cam and Luke in their 7-9th years as veterans....not hard to understand(for some of us)

Hence it matters still....once again...easy to understand.
