What is that? We changed an offense from Cam strength (the deep ball) to Cam weakness (the short throws). Now I understand we have to have some short passes, but to completely get rid of the deep pass and Ted Ginn our best deep threat, wtf is that. And with CMC the change of offense, CMC hasn't been that effective. What's next? Finding a dink and dunk QB to replace Cam and keep Shula? No play-action out there. Panthers backed into a corner with Shula

I don't think the Panthers have anyone healthy that's capable of running those routes. Also, with Trai Turner out the offensive line is in poor shape. Matt Kalil was already a liability, but with Trai out the interior of the line was getting blown up the entire game.

CMC dropped 2 passes today and he had 6 carries for 14 yards. He didn't do anything today. Everybody sucked. This thread is about our passing offense and the lack of deep pass which is Cam strength. CMC has put up decent numbers this season, but it goes hand in hand to the changes of this offense which overall has dropped production wise. CMC is averaging 8 yards a catch. Devin is averaging 13, his lowest in 3 seasons. That's not it.

It honestly is Shula, week in and we out, even the announcers wonder why we have multiple receivers in same general area... Makes no sense and is horrible play calling.

Wiiiith what deep threat.

Cam has no problem going deep to Funchess when he's one on one, but no one else can stretch the field or even take some coverage off of Devin.

Shula has drawn up deep plays for both Byrd and Clay.

CMC had been really damn good, but he's a small target and i don't know if he really fits what this team should be doing.  I think the biggest issue with the panthers is we don't have a guy who is a real playmaker, a guy who we can just throw the ball to and he can go make something happen at the reciever position, or even a RB that we can turn and hand the ball off to 20-25 times a game. We don't really have a #1 Reciever, or running back on the Roster. Olsen is a #1 but he usually isn't making plays with his feet breaking tackles and running after catch for scores. This team needs real weapons, guys who can make plays, and stay healthy. I like Byrd and Samuel, but that is not enough, and they arent currently dependable. Cam also needs to work on his game, he's been in the league to long to still be throwing balls 10 feet over peoples heads on a fairly regular basis.

Dude... He sends Bersin on same route as whoever is on same side as him, it has nothing to do whatsoever with a deep threat, it's the design of the play. Wouldn't matter who runs it or how fast they are.

No no, I'm not disagreeing that Shula's playcalling is frustrating. It is. Extremely.

However, Shula isn't the reason that we don't take deep shots.

This.  Having him out last two weeks and our O looking like garbage arent mutually exclusive.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
