Christian Mccaffrey or Alvin Kamara?

How about we let a few seasons go by before making declarations on who is an all star and who is a bust. Plenty of players have done magnificent their rookie seasons and then gone on to be average or complete trash (RG3, Matt Kalil, and many others) and on the flip side of the equation many players have started slow or average and gone on to excel (Josh Norman is a name that comes to mind).

As it stands Kamara might seem to be the better choice but the question is, can he sustain that success past his rookie season. Evaluation takes time and a single season is most definitely not enough especially for rookies.

whats the fun in that? why even be on a message board if youre not gonna be a knee-jerk reactor. based on this season, Kamara is better in pretty much every category. But I also think CMC has the most room for growth. How much better can Kamara actually get?

Why all the hate for our guy? He’s  probably both our best rb and best receiver as a rookie. Why so many negative threads on a rookie?

We drafted a wide receiver in the second round who is always hurt and he gets no hate

Oh, I thought you were suggesting I was hating on him. All the hate? It's a message board where half the people dont know what theyre looking at. Then you have a few Cam Newton fans posing as Panthers fans. For the most part, I dont think he is being hated on except for the guys who only like Cam. But this year, Kamara has played significantly better. Like I said though, that leaves CMC more room to grow.

Kamara would put up Gurley type numbers if he had first string touches.

if not more. people were saying CMC was the best route runner and had the best hands in the draft, did they not know about Kamara?

Cmc might have the better footwork as far as route running but his yac doesn't compare to kamara.....It doesn't hurt to have the better qb between the two either. People were dismissing Kamara because of his injury and his off the field issues but Kamara is overall a better player.

First Post here, Saints fan all the way.

We chatting about this over on our forum, we find it funny that yall love Kamara. The thing about it is this, and this is why you shouldn't feel bad at all. Payton happened to catch a glimps of Kamara in the passing game when they were scouting. Payton then had a workout with him where he worked him out not only as a RB but as a WR and watched him work the passing tree. Payton, being used to looking for a joker back took the time to look for it and found something special.

31 other teams didn't look that far either. Kamara is a once in a lifetime back that we got a good shake on and he has paid dividends! At no point should yall sleep on CMC. The kid has just as many tools as Kamara. Its all about how you guys work him into the scheme. Cam, unfortunately, is too inaccurate and impatient to really work CMC into a good game plan where he can succeed.

I hope you take the throttling we are about to give you and use it to learn, get your PLAYMAKERS in a position to be successful. Get the ball to CMC and you will have success. Maybe building around a CMC and Funchess may be better than around a Newton, just my suggestion. You guys are wasting a star studded defence on a mediocre selfish Cam. I have a hard time believing he would play a game where CMC is the featured start and the beast is unleashed.

Just some food for thought. Don't sleep on your boys! Rest assured this week though, it is your funeral! It will be what is best for you guys too so that you can really look within your staff and make the changes you need. The L is coming and its not gonna be fun, but its gonna be a real humbling experience for a team that somehow squeezed out 11 wins. As a Saints fan we can agree no one remembers the losers! and you guys will be no exception! If your smart, less Neaton and more CMC.

See ya Next Year! WHO DAT!

    • Talk is cheap, but like others already posted you have to have that type of mentality.  It is always good to have guys from a team that was dominate and understand what i takes to make said changes.  I think we at least have depth and DAWGS that DM has been wanting to add at all positions.   Whether that translates to better play on field or wins/loses i am hoping that is the case.
    • I had a huge response typed up for this that I lost entirely so I'm starting from scratch which is annoying but sh*t happens. I think Purdy is a high end game manager. I've made my thoughts known. I think he is talented and is at his best in the areas of timing rhythm and accuracy. When playing within the structure and scheme of that Shanahan offense and the talent around him he can be really good. Where his limitations become pronounced and more evident is when he has to go toe to toe with dynamic elite QB's. Which obviously isn't a problem just limited to him. But he's been given almost 200 million dollars guaranteed so that's an issue. I think the 49ers will struggle to get back to the mountain top with his new contract looming large and certainly they will face a very steep climb to somehow winning another championship. As far as Bryce within the pocket there have been numerous discussions here and even video circulated of him bouncing around the pocket like a pogo surveying the field or having both feet off the ground to deliver a pass. It exists even if you or someone else doesn't want it to. And I get why. But it's up to Bryce and Canales to figure out how to not only get his footwork where it needs to be and keep it there but to build a scheme around Bryce and what he does best and fit his limitations into a formidable offense. Look brother we can get into the weeds about this but I will respectfully say I do not believe you are being consistent here. You have gone out of your way as one of the key voices complaining about how striking the lack of quality talent and coaching was around Bryce Young in 2023. You've also been a key voice who has gone out of your way to sprinkle sunshine and rainbows on just about any discussion around every Panthers player and anything Panthers in general. Which is fine and can be a good thing. It's not for everyone but still more power to you. But it's jarring to see that and then you here now in what I can only describe as downplaying the talent around Bryce when it comes time to shield him from what you perceive to be unfair criticism which others such as myself would argue is not only fair for a first round pick but wholly realistic given the resources we surrendered to be able to draft him. The current FO have made an undisputed effort to build around Bryce given the aforementioned limitations created by the trade. There is never going to be a time where Bryce or any other Panthers QB is going to have elite or all pro level talent across the entire offense. But the FO has put talent around him. If you want to say that this is young and undeveloped talent in some areas that's fine but they are building around him. I'm going to be honest with you I cannot recall ever hearing this "big time throw" metric being mentioned in past conversations about Panthers QB's. I mean if Bryce or any other QB is making franchise QB or fringe elite QB  level throws we can recognize that with our own eyes. We have seen this from Bryce  which was a relief and very welcomed sight but now it's up to him to prove he can sustain that because in fairness we've seen some pretty impressive passes from past QB's who ultimately didn't pan out who were arguably more phsyically talented than Bryce. 3rd down conversion and turnover worthy plays are certainly something to hone in on. Bryce did improve in the redzone in that final stretch of games. However one key area to keep an eye on will be passing plays to the middle of the field. That's been an issue for us and Bryce both with turnovers and with bad moments from our receivers with bad drops.  We'll have to see what Dave Canales has planned for all of this within his scheme. I don't expect miracles but I do expect a competent formidable offense that is enjoyable to watch in 2025. That's the minimum expectation and I do not believe it is at all unreasonable.
    • You gotta have that attitude. Feels like a major turnaround to me!
