I'm surprised that there hasn't been any talk about the Panthers looking for his replacement.  They had to know Holcomb was certain to leave with Wilks?

They seemed to know that if Wilks left, he was taking either Washington or Holcomb with him. Washington was apparently the one they felt it was more important to keep, so they signed him to an extension.

According to an article on the team site, all our assistants signed two year extensions two years ago. That's why Holcomb, Brown and McGaughey were able to leave without the Panthers blocking them. They were free agents.

They may just be keeping it  quiet, but it's also possible they may still be deciding who all else they want to keep before addressing the replacements.

Yeah I get all that but I haven't heard anything on who is being considered for Holcomb's replacement.  I just thought it odd that there hasn't been anyone mentioned, if there has I must've missed it.

There's been no word.

Other  than  the in-house promotions, the Assistant ST guy they're interviewing has been the only news.

Person is sort of wrong and sort of right here.

Ray Brown was officially titled as the offensive line coach.  That happened when they promoted John Matsko to "run game coordinator" (that title is just stunningly stupid to me) but as far as their actual duties went, Matsko was the line coach and Brown was the assistant.

If they give someone the title of "offensive line coach" now, they might rightly expect that to be their job, rather than as an assistant.  That could be awkward.

Guess we'll see what happens.

Person says Farwell has been offered the Assistant Special Teams Coach job.

Quote

The Panthers appear to be closing in on an assistant special-teams coach. Heath Farwell, who holds the same position with the Seattle Seahawks, has been offered the position with Carolina, according to a league source.

Farwell, 36, has been with Seattle the past two seasons after playing four years with the Seahawks from 2011-2014. Farwell played 10 seasons in the NFL, and made the Pro Bowl as a special teams player in 2009 with the Vikings.
