Since we're looking to replace our former Oregon Duck, why not possibly with another ex-Oregon Duck.....

Royce Freeman

5'11"   229lbs.  22 years old

947 carries - 5,621yds - 60TD

IMO, lots to love about this guy if we're waiting until the 3rd round or so to draft a RB.  He does have A LOT of mileage on his odometer, but he looks like an ideal compliment to what McCaffrey offers us. Dude is big, but has enough elusiveness and able to get small at the line to not be a "bruising" big back. I see a bit of David Johnson in watching him, but not as talented of a receiver....and also a bit of Jordan Howard.

He's got a lot of wear and tear on his body from HS and 4 years at Oregon. Missed a good chunk of the 2016 season due to injury as well.

I wouldn't mind him with one of our third rounders much the way I wanted D'Onta Foreman on day 3 last year. If we bypass RB up to this point, I'd be happy with Freeman. There are a few other RBs that I prefer with us, but Freeman is def in the mix for day 3 picks.

    • Some people have been beaten down so long they have no standards. Can't be reasoned with.
    • Getting better, might be fairly charitable. We finished 1-3 with the pressure on. That is for sure not trending up.  I don’t see a clear run of performances that prove he has taken it to another level. Not yet.  I would say he played really well in the WC game. And folded on that last series where we still had a chance. I think he threw one good ball. That last series is the kind of thing a player is supposed to learn from and not repeat. We have to see him do it before we can credit him for doing it.    I would also say he has not done enough of playing at his ceiling and what we should expect as the game in game out norm is still not established.  We gonna get MNF in SF or we gonna get the WC game? Seattle or Atlanta yardage record?   Besides that he has three years of horrendous play to start the season hanging over him. Are we going to get that again or will he be over that? We can’t know that. Mind you, that isn‘t two of three it is three of three he has yet to play well to start the year as a pro. Ofer.    So, many questions remain.    As far as weapons and help… said it before. Fix the OL so we can protect him.  It is time for a 1.1 pick in his 4th season, third year in the same offense, to elevate the players we have given him. You can’t keep up the level of investment dedicated to propping him up, you have to prop up the defense too and get some balance.
    • Yeah, just got back to the house from doing some actual work, hopefully they create some better chances in the second half. 3-1 looks tough for you
