Paul Richardson likely to sign w/Redskins

Torrey Smith is only guaranteed 5 million. That’s a quarter of the guaranteed money that Richardson is getting. Also, I don’t think Richardson fits what the Panthers were looking for.

I would bet Norv advocated for Smith. The Panthers need a home run threat to stretch the field, and I don’t think Richardson is nearly as capable as Smith is at it. Smith, on an awful 49er’s, and with Wentz’s terrible long ball put up 2,127 yards, with a 15.28 average, and 20 touchdowns in the last four seasons (this is of course not including his 3 best years as a Raven). Richardson only produced 1,302 yards, with a 13.7 average, and only 8 touchdowns with Russel "throw a prayer" Wilson.

With Richardson also being injury prone, I imagine the idea of Panthers signing him was thrown out early in the free agency process. They can't sign another receiver that will end up on IR.
