I agree.  If he brings in another yes man-type of GM like Hurney, then we may be in for more of the same.  But if he brings in someone with a strong football background that is more of a take charge type, then we may have hope.

I'm not as down on Hurney as others, but I do think his biggest flaw as a GM is that he tends to do what others want, and isn't a strong enough personality to pound the table for a different approach.  The coaches would give him a shopping list, and JR would let him know what he wants, and Hurney would then go out and do whatever he could to make everyone happy.  It's why he overspent on guys JR wanted and passed on better talent to take a player that fit a niche need.

Basically, I want Navarro (or whomever gets the team) to bring in a GM that is not afraid to stand up to him when he needs to.  If he does that, then it will say a lot about how he will be as an owner, and I will feel pretty good about the future of the team.

Bringing in a GM who actually has his own background, experience and success in talent evaluation would be a huge step in the right direction.

Navarro has been my choice since I first read about him a few months ago.

There is is literally nothing about him that scares me or brings up a red flag.

And he’s a “local” and younger guy ... meaning the panthers staying in Charlotte (and not some dome in Fort Mill)....

Seems like the best candidate for sure.

Navarro has actually stated a preference for open-air stadiums, as well as sn uptown location.

At some point, the NFL is going to want upgrades or a new stadium all together. There's no stopping that.

With Navarro though, it sounds like the changes won't be as radical as they might have otherwise been.
