Look At John Fox Comment, And Tell Me If I'm Reaching Or Not

For those dont know, reaching means you thinking too much or you kinda pushing it

Actually READ & THINK about this comment

“We’re in the playoffs,” said coach John Fox. “That was the goal for the season. The team that won it a year ago (the Giants) wasn’t the first season. It hasn’t been that way for a while. So the playoffs were a priority. Tonight wasn’t meant to be.”

What if Dallas didn't lose yesterday, and Tampa didn't lose today. We wouldn't have been in the playoffs before this game. Somebody made a thread saying do you think us finally being in, will affect this game? We all know Fox. Am I reaching for saying yes to that question

I agree with him somewhat. He's been in the league long enough to know that, as nice as home field advantage and bye weeks and all of that are, it's more important to make the field first and worry about the rest later. The last time the Giants clinched the #1 seed, he was their defensive coordinator and they lost to the Ravens in the Super Bowl. The Ravens, who had Trent freaking Dilfer at QB. So, you fight hard for the seeds, but don't run for the hills if you come up short. Everything changes in the playoffs.

meh, idk if we go out there and spring all the tricks even if we didnt have a spot wrapped up. more likely we save them for the saints if we lost and needed 1 W to get in. no reason to show them everything tonight,. kinda like the nyg NE game last year. i think the giants were in a similar boat though tonight. they kept it vanilla too.

If they would have lost by 20 in regulation, I would agree with you. An overtime lose that could have been a win with 9 seconds left? Do you think Fox told Kasay miss it wide left? Of course not. Yes, he was probably more conservative in the 2nd half than what he would have been if the Cowboys and Bucs won. But overall he tried to get his team a win. No Kemo and losing Lewis in the 2nd didn't help either.

I'm not saying it was our attention to not win. I'm sort of saying what chbright said

Its like we're finally in the playoffs. This game is big, we're going to try to win it, but lets not go all the way out. We're not going to expose everything. Cause all of us know, we had them in the palm of our hands. We could have crushed them. But we kinda let off in the 2nd half

it was a vanilla game play-calling wise. watch the playoff giants d and this one. no where near the same look, not even the same as their more agressive style earlier in the year. look at ours in 03 and 05 playoff D, and anytime we really needed a win in week 17 or 16 compared to this one. this wasnt the time to start pulling out all the stops, that starts week 18. i expect playoff time the D to change a good bit in the play calling department, now if they can execute idk. same on the offense, which is rolling better than any time in the fox era.

this was a great game from vanilla calls, both O-lines dominated in run game. now i think both may dial up pressure in a variety of ways come the playoffs. and the passing game likely will open up, especially if the wind isnt such a factor.

oh and if u listened to the giants, they sounded like this meant everything to them and they wanted it really bad for the fans. not saying fox didnt want it for us, but in alot of ways this may have been a bigger game for NYG. we came away with the fact we can beat them in jersey. they also got the cobwebs cleared out with this W. takes some pressure off them. should instill confidence within our O at least. defense, well they may not sleep well tonight or this week, as they need to get their asses whipped into shape for the playoffs. poor performance needs fixing. play calling didnt make the run d that bad.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
