PFT: Packers Have Already Interviewed Jim Caldwell And Chuck Pagano

The league actually added a bit to the Rooney Rule this year.

A lot of teams used to "comply" with the rule by claiming to have interviewed a minority assistant that was already on the coaching staff. the NFL is no longer accepting that. They now require that you interview somebody who's not currently employed by the team.

Of course, very few teams can compete with the overachievement the Panthers did in their GM search, interviewing three minority candidates that they had no intention of hiring before putting Marty Hurney back in place. The fact that Hurney was nowhere near as qualified as the people they passed over, of course, made no difference.

I met Caldwell when he was at Wake...I  was not impressed at all. I felt that he crawled into the league under Dungy's wing and inherited Manning.  I never thought he was that good--and I still think he is overrated.

Lord he was so bad at Wake Forest.

    • I know he probably isn’t a NFL QB but watching King in practice is so much better than Plummer.
    • Yeah, this was a great watch to get excited about. It’s interesting that we brought in two  kids w/ Panthers ties in Freeling & Brazzell.    I’m sure it’s exciting for them to play for the team they grew up a fan of.
    • This is loser talk or whatever, but that was one of the proudest or happiest or ________ Ive ever felt after a loss. I honestly thought the first game panthers would lose by 21+, just blown out. Not the same for the playoff rematch, but I still thought rams easy......it was not easy and I feel panthers gave them everything they had and right there in the 4th....
