Not really. Go to overthecap.com where you got that number and see what’s there. First, it’s only 30 players. Second, there’s no $27m for Brees if he retires (both voidable years, can’t spread out with him gone). Third, Michael Thomas isn’t even in the list. Realistically, with 20 more players, a franchise tag (can extend and bring it down a bit) and Brees dead cap and you are in the $25-30m range.

And without a starting QB at that point....

still need a FS and a nickel

I still think that Gaulden pans out as 1 of these 2 positions. Obviously can't say for sure until the season begins, but he definitely has potential. I, personally, would like to see him tried at nickel.

I think that’s wishful thinking. If he was an amazing college player who had a bad combine, maybe. He was just a good college player who was the most unathletic DB in the draft. Oh well, hope he does great since he’s on the team. I’m just not optimistic.

Yeah, about 2 minutes after posting this, I saw that an entire thread had been started to discuss. He often seemed out of place at safety, so I guess that I'm just hoping that it was because of the position switch. I actually never saw him play (that I remember) in college, and wouldn't have recognized his name if he hadn't flipped of those Bama students.
