Why the time off?

I still can’t figure out this puzzling lay-off after the Thursday night game.  You are 0-2.  RR said that he knew Cam hurt his foot after the game Thursday.  Also talked with Cam again on Friday.

Then why in the hell if you have to start a second string guy do you give the team 4 days off.  They could have used that time to help the timing with the receivers and Allen.

Did RR just assume Cam was gonna come bail him out once again?  If your not 100% confident Cam was going to start, why not give your team extra time on the contingency plan.

So when Allen comes out next week and his timing is off I expect RR to simply say that he didn’t have enough time with the ones.

The new CBA sucks... it greatly limits the amount of padded practices as well as overall number of practices.

Certainly makes it harder to put a good offensive product on the field when your starter goes down.

And whether it is was wishful thinking or not, I think the coaching staff was hoping Cam was going to feel good this morning and ready to go

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
