Somebody outside the board asked me about this but I'll answer it here as well.

Yes, Marty Hurney is likely acquainted or at the very least familiar with Greg Roman.

Roman was on staff with the Panthers from 1995 to 2001. Marty Hurney joined the Panthers organization in 1998.

So yes, a Hurney-Roman leadership combo would be a legitimate possibility. Sticking our new coach with Marty as a GM is a thought it might make me wanna puke, but it's possible.

As far as I know, none of the other potential candidates have any connection with Hurney.
