Could signing Okung mean that both Daley and Moton are sliding inside?

The whole line looked terrible last year. I don't know whether it was execution or coaching or both. But I hope they are better if we keep several around. Moton was the bright spot on a really bad line.

You bring up a good point--coaching.  I just did not see the Matsko "bonding" we had seen in the past.  We have had suspect lines that started clicking later--lotta credit to Ryan K-probably the biggest factor-

Tiger is right--Little does not seem to be a fit at RG because his is not a mauler.  However, i will add that no football player that is confused or injured goes 100%.  Maybe when he gets comfortable...

I do not see him as the pulling LG type either.  The hope, I suppose, is that he can play either spot--but the RG mauler?  Not yet if at all.

In Daley, I see the LG.  See this--he is playing tackle, but it breaks down Daley's run blocking in only his second NFL game.  There is a lot to like about him at G---and I would guess that he could play either, but LG (to me) seems to be the better fit.  (Maybe because I am used to seeing him on the left side of the line.)

I don't understand the logic of replacing Moton (A good RT) with Daley (a bad RT) just to move Moton inside when we could just stick Daley inside where he would do better and not shuffle literally everyone around.

Like Moton at RT is a B, Moton at RG is an A.

Daley at RT is an F and Daley at RG is a C.

I just feel it's better to pair the B with the C than the A with the F.

2.5 GPA is better than a 2.0

I see Daley as the next RG or LG---I cannot decide.  He can pull, he is not the mauler Turner was/could be, but he is not a finesse G either.   I think you have to play him at RG and see if he can lock the right side down.  If Little can play LG--we might already have our OL.

I have been saying this for a while--move Little and/or Daley inside and draft a T.  Marty does not want to draft a LT two years in a row--makes him look bad.  I did not see a free agent LT or trade, however--who really does?  I still see us adding a T late in the draft.  It is a good draft for OTs.

About Little being soft---anyone is who is out of position.  If we can close his responsibility, it could be night and day.

Here is the look right now, if you ask me:

  • LT: Okung (was in 2 pro bowls)'
  • LG: Little (finesse player who can get to second level)
  • C:  God Help us. I think we could draft a C.
  • RG:  Daley.   A soild run blocker and can pull.
  • RT: Moton.  If it ain't fixed.

Ironically, I was reading Walter Football's 2019 analysis of Little and it occurs to me that Little's football IQ is suspect.  As a former OL coach in HS, I used to tell the players, you need to know where the player is going to be before he gets there and you need swag.  I used to spend more time in the film room with them than hitting dummies (end of the year).  Little's lack of aggression could be confusion.   He may be mentally overwhelmed at LT.  Put him at LG, and we could see a Travelle Wharton situation.

This was also interesting--note the player comparison:

Player Comparison: Russell Okung. Okung has been a quality starting left tackle in the NFL after being the sixth-overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Okung has been good, but not great, for the Seahawks, Broncos and Chargers. Okung (6-5, 310) and Little have similar skill sets. In the NFL, I could see Little having a career similar to Okung.

    • So you believe that Levis had a better day throwing deep because one of those was a TDs? Asking for clarity on that as it was already clearly demonstrated that Bryce would've had a TD had Moore not dropped it in the back of the end zone. The entire purpose of their metric is to look at the throw and grade that because the QB has complete control over it. That was made abundantly clear from the video provided prior to that. Nobody is trying to manifest him as a top-10 player. He had performances during his return from benching that measured in the top-10 in different metrics. The issue at play is that because those stats support Bryce's progress (and refutes that his ceiling is his floor), that you and other people that don't care for Bryce being the Panthers' QB are going out of your way to either a) ignore factual data, or b) cast uncertainty on the methodology. There's no actual interest in stats and facts like as you mentioned previously. All of the non-PFF info, like passing yards in a single game, is also not entirely reliant on the QB. That's one of the points that Jimmy has hammered home but y'all continue to try and sidestep: that the ability to throw deep relies more on elements like timing rather than physically having a howitzer for an arm. Yes, arm strength does play a role but let's not be coy: the entire narrative that Bryce is not a capable deep ball thrower is 100% rooted in the same reasoning that folks had for thinking he wouldn't survive an NFL hit... bro is too smol. We have plenty of data (AND film) that show this. Whether or not the people that don't want it to be true stop clinging to what they want to believe instead is up to them.
    • This isn’t a bad deal for the right people. Sure not everyone has that kind of money to burn. But $10k for everything including all travel (that includes a private flight), lodging, meals, tix to the game? Meeting former players? It’s a lot of logistics that if done solo would take a lot of time to coordinate. When I was younger I spent my time to save money, and now I spend my money to save time.
    • Displays of luxury spending like this are the only thing that will wake up the poor peasants currently shouting at each other. At least, that's my only way to optimistically look at this trash.
