Here We Are -- The Final Stretch & New Energy**

After the world wind that was -- Cam Signing, the social media blitz, and a convincing win versus Arizona, ''here we are'' at .500 with seven games left in the season.

It was reported that Cam would be getting the lions share of reps, and this will continue as they try to get him acclimated and up to speed as quick as possible, odds are we will still see a good bit of PJ, at least for the next couple of games even with Cam as the ''starter''. With that in mind let's look at the upcoming schedule and gauge our thoughts and expectations:

___________________________________________________________________________________________

11/21 - WFT - I think we can win this game, we have the secondary to line up versus WFT and I think we will be all over Heinecke with the rush. I am curious to see the game-plan we put together on offense, but overall I think we're much more talented.

11/28 - MIA - Whether it's Tua, or Jacoby, I'm not impressed, this IMO is when Cam will start to be in some form of rhythm his 3rd game back with just shy of a month under his belt. For those that thought our OL was bad, these guys TRADED for Greg Little, that tells you all you need to know.

Record at this juncture - 7-5

12/5 - Bye Week -- is this not the best time for a bye with the way this season has played out? A week off, and more time to get deeper into the PB for Cam, and a nice break to get guys fresh as we head into the final stretch, ''new energy''.

12/12 - ATL - We get ATL at home after the bye, without Ridley, and them being on the road I believe we are able to secure this win, as special as Pitts is their running game is average, and with no other targets we smother them once more.

Record at this juncture - 8-5

12/19 - BUF - At three games over .500, I feel this is a game that we could possibly lose, on the road in Buffalo, my heart says we win, but my head says we lose a close one, BUT look the part of a team fighting for a playoff spot.

Record at this juncture - 8-6

12/26 - TB - To me this may be the MOST important game, if we win this game, we guarantee ourselves a winning record, and LIKLEY secure a playoff berth, at home, and I will bein attendance, and over a month of Cam being with the team; we win this game #KeepPounding

Record at this juncture - 9-6

1/2 - NO - I think by this point NO will be out of contention, I think they made a mistake rolling with Siemian and not going after Cam (I'm grateful), we win in NO in convincing fashion.

Record at this juncture - 10-6

1/9 - TB - This is a bit of a toss up as TB could be playing for playoff seeding, I think we return to earth a bit this week, and lose a close game on the road.

Final Record - 10-7

_____________________________________________________________________

There you have it, those are my extremely casual thoughts on how the next seven games will play out, how do you think it will go down?

Let's not count any chickens before they've hatched.

WTF just beat the Bucs. MIA just beat the Ravens. Those supposedly bottom-end teams have serious defenses and coaches they will fight for. Our defense was spectacular last week and our offense, too. There was a lot of extra energy on hand for our side, and all we can do is hope it is still there.

Washington will be tough. Let's just get through that first.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
