We play to lose

it was only on that last possession and the last few plays of the game that moore was the one tapping the brakes. he said that he just wanted to get more points on the board and that it didn't matter how they got there, just as long as they were to make it a two possession game. as much as i wanted to see them go all the way i can respect that decision. pretty mature, actually.

as far as the rest of the time running on third and whatever..all the coaches call. they want to shake up some teams and confuse them? throw on third down. everyone knows by now that 90% of the time we are going to be running then.

It's called playing not to lose, rather than playing to win.

No, its called playing to get a two score lead and put the game away instead of not taking dumb risks just to appease some fans.

Take a look at that play, Moore definitely saw Pass Coverage on that play. The guy said even said the same things that people on this forum LOVE to preach.

"My whole mindset there was we are down here, let's just try to pound the ball in,” Moore said. “We have a big guy in our backfield."

Isn't this the same stuff the armchair QB/Head Coach/Offensive Coordinators around here love to preach every time we lose a game because of Jake's Arm?

Like it or not, Matt made the smart play in that situation. I know you guys would like to see him throw, but a part of being quarterback is about picking your shots. You don't just throw into pass coverage every time (unless your P. Manning).

...which is still playing not to lose, haha. It's just an expression for not taking chances and to maintain a lead.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with what he did, he got a win out of it. But I just think that he could've helped himself out by taking chances against the easiest team left on our schedule.

This is true. Sorry, nothing against you, its just some of the stuff I see on this board is really pathetic. Probably the wrong thread to take it out on.

    • I wouldn't be opposed to trading for Sanders and seeing if he could be developed here. We have zero plans, and I really don't think it would take Sanders long to produce more than Bryce has. Plus, he's on a 5th round rookie contract and if he became the guy, you instantly have three years to build a core of talent, much of which we already have.  I get flamed for this opinion but it is what it is, and I've been right about these type of things the past three years.  I said Nix would be a good NFL QB. Wanted to keep Darnold and trade down in 2023. Said QB play wasn't the QB's fault under Rhule, but rather the offensive design.  Give me Sanders in the room for a year with Bryce and Dalton, see what he can develop in to on the cheap. There are no really quality QB's coming out this year that aren't Allar or Manning, and Manning may not even be coming out.
    • basically if the panthers trade Thielen they're not trying to win this year. I mean they're not going to regardless but this means its the plan not to.  no team is going into the season in 2025 with 80 career catches between their top 3 healthy WR.  you'd be turning this from a bottom 3rd of the league offense to like the nathan peterman bills pair that with a defense that is most likely going to struggle, and they're looking at 2001 again.
