Thank you Jason Baker

For shanking that punt, now we don't have to listen to all the fine young male Saints fans talking about how Brees broke the record vs us.

He could have broken it had he not saved an awful throw for his last throw of the game to a wide open receiver.

Before I opened the thread, I was thinking you were getting ready to crucify Jason Baker and I was gonna be mad.

Pleasantly surprised you didn't

Yall do realize that all he needed was 16 yards, that squib punt just had them closer to winning the game with a completed hail mary which would have also broken the record, that was a terrible punt and you could tell the way he was walking away he didn't mean to do it and smith even patted him on the back in a 'its ight man don't sweat it' kinda manner...

Not only that it allowed the Saints to score quick and make the Panthers O play. I'd actually prefer to be down by one with 3 minutes to play than up by six....

Down by 1 with 3 minutes and the ball, rather than up by six with 3 minutes to play having to defend.

    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
    • This thread is dumb. But I do think canales gets too cute with play calling and I don't think he's a good coach
