Well, John Fox looks like a idiot now...

If Winfield had not fell, that had INT all over it. It worked out but the decision to throw that was what has kept Jake in trouble this year.

well, that was a classic jump ball to Smitty.....that is how Jake made his living. Jake early this year wasn't throwing the ball up so Smitty could fight for them.....Smitty literally was the defender b/c of severe underthrows. Carolina likes that matchup with Smith going up....

it isn't about arguing it....he wasn't a starter. He was deep on the WR depth chart....he was a Dwyane Jarrett....someone they had hope could move up. See this Gardner reach just explains how absurd Fox's flaw is. In all his years in Carolina.....he has never once replaced anyone of his starters purely to get better production. He will make a move if injury forces it........Fox has been here TOO LONG for that never to of occured. That is his biggest flaw. It isn't that he prefers vets over rookies....once he commits to a a starter he simply will ride them out until the end of a season. That ain't coaching but simply being stubborn and refusing to adapt.

Rodney Peete was replaced by Delhomme.

Davis was not injured enough to be benched soley on injuries. Foster had better production. If injuries were serious enough to be a factor he wouldve benched Davis earlier, if injuries was serious enough he wouldn't share carries after switching to Foster.

The problem is very few times does a backup (not starter sucking) show to be better during the season. Thats what the offseason and camp is for.

Help me out here, give me some instances in Fox's time here that the backup was clearly better and shoudlve been started in the season. Ive heard moore, and Godfry. Are there any more? Or is that it?

Sure Davis was.....he was falling apart and was done. He was battling knee injuries that entire year and couldn't perform.

I'll give you Peete if you want it.... Hard to say Fox committed to him that season when he only played one half of football for him either. Job was most likely up for grabs and no one was locked into a job.

Like I said, name me one coach who has been with a ball club 7 years(or close to that) that hasn't made a midseason change based on better talent elsewhere on the roster at some point during there tenture - not caused by injury?

Keeping Deshaun DeFumbles Foster starting over Deangelo Williams?

That question doesnt work. Your saying if a coach coaches on a team for seven years there has to be instances under your situation. Even if Fox hasnt switched, that doesnt mean there were instaces were he clear cut shouldve.

Moore- This one doesnt work under your instance, Moore showed nothing to suggest he was a better talent then Jake. The only reason they wanted Moore is not because of his talent but becuase Jake sucked so much. Theres a diffrenence

Godfry-Martin showed he could be a better talent. But Godfry was then placed back in and has played very well. So in this instance Fox didnt ingore better talent , considring Godfry playing well.

I could see your argument better if you gave more instances, theres seven years to work with. I do have my problems with the above two, but thers got to be some more you can find.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
