We Have A Solid D In Place

Our defenders believed into what was taught and its showing a lot lately, especially the pass defense

Check the last Favre pick. Pep got pressure. Everybody from linebackers and slot corners covered the inside. Our out corners forced and let the receivers go to the outside instead of inside and Favre thought he had man open, Safety held their positions and the Hitman got the pick. Did what they was supposed to do, not too much, and ended the game

either Charles Johnson or Brown should start over Brayton, he's just average and that may be generous.
brayton isn't an elite DE but he is a lot better than people give him credit for.

i have no problem with him being the starter. doesn't really matter, though. there's a lot of rotating going on so everyone gets to see the field quite a bit. if brayton see more action it's because he can move inside to DT if needed.

this D has gotten better each week, and it's a joy watching them.

i believe the D is going to be downright nasty next year if meeks is still here.

and i agree, charles johnson should be starting over brayton but i'd still like to see brayton on the team next year.

carolina's top priority besides a QB and WRs should be a real force at DT, you have some nice role players at DT but no one who demands a double team on every down not just obvious run downs. tampa could have suh, atlanta has babineaux, and the saints have ellis. carolina needs to find a DT like one of the above.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
