Hypothetical...

Say John Fox were to find a suitor THIS season...

Would you rather simply let him out of his contract... OR...

Do you let him out of his contract contingent on the suitor giving up draft picks (much like the Gruden to TB deal)?... OR...

Ask that he finish out his contract with the Panthers, as we are staring an uncapped season dead in the face and need some sort of consistency in the transition...

Me personally, I'd love to say hello draft picks... but still, I'd let him finish out the contract...

Yeah, I've said I'd like Fox to finish it out, and I'm about 98% certain that is what will happen... BUT, there have been recent rumblings of a possible deal to let him go elsewhere...

Let's look at the leading contenders for potential job openings Fox could look to move into...

Cleveland

Washington

Oakland

Buffalo

Washington has the #4 pick overal. Cleveland has #7. Oakland has #8. Buffalo has #9.

Cowher to Buffalo sounds like a done deal... so I'd strike them off the list...

Who knows what Al Davis will do, but my bet is Fox doesn't have any interest in that circus...

Dan Snyder often looks for a higher profile signing, and word is that Shanahan is going to be his man...

That leaves Cleveland... which is where the "Fox leaving" rumors really started to heat up...

Holmgren's in Cleveland now, and he and Fox share the same agent... Bob LaMonte... Also, Charlie Weis is a client... just saying...

I just wanted to stir the pot a little more, and a top ten pick is rather exciting... It'd take more than that, of course, and how ironic that we'd likely get more for Fox than any of our players rumored at some point or another to be on the block...

That's a testament to his coaching, no matter how much he makes you hate him at times... and one of the reasons I'd like to at least let him finish out his contract with us...

It should be another interesting thing to watch this offseason...

Weren't we all in total agreement about six weeks ago that John Fox should not only be fired, but be incinerated?

Now he says, "You can't fire me, I quit," and we're devastated at the prospect.

John Fox is a genius. He knows how to play the people.

Where did you read that Cowher to Buffalo was a done deal? If thats the case then JR and management really screwed the pooch on this one.

Well, he's had a "stealth meeting" with Bills ownership and has already started contacting prospective assistants... not that the two are related, but the stories have leaked...

How about take the pick(s), promote from within and then hire the replacement for that promotion?

That way, philosophies that have been working are not ditched (Meeks) and the areas which have not been working can get revised (ST).

if... If.... IF Fox isn't here next season, that's the most likely scenario...

    • With Schoen and Dan Morgan being tight I’d figure we knew this was coming and since he is released, Dan didn’t bite.    But, a quick search says this is at least 80% cap related. They have No cap space and save 8 or 9 million with releasing him.  He has been a captain his entire time there. 145 tackles this year.  They are picking 5th with a new staff and looking at Styles. Hitting that age 30 season and had a disc issue last year (meaning 2024) that did not require surgery.  I haven’t really watched him play but he activated the antennae.
    • OK, we are letting our top RB go.  We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks.  Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB?  I am sure he'd be a special team player as well.  I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB. Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy): Navy running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.    Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance: 6'0" 200 lbs.   40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds. 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds. Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches. Broad Jump: 10' 0". Bench Press: 16 Reps. Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994). High character.  Smart.  Maybe, just maybe....
    • These refs are horrible.  They definitely got money on this game lol.
