I checked the pod cast on wfnz to see if I heard Gantt right and he did say it. A caller was telling him he thinks Fox is gone then Gantt chimes in. You can check it out on wfnz just go to Pacs pod cast from yesterday it's at the very end of the second hour.

You know, as frustrating as some of Fox's coaching decisions have been this year, I still think he's probably the best guy for us. I just have this bad feeling that if someone else comes in, they'll mess up a team that's just on the brink of being a real machine. I say stick with the guy who is still the winning-est HC we've ever had. After all, if you take the Jake soap opera out of the equation, Foxy had to deal with a bunch of handicaps this year to squeeze out a win. I think had the injuries not plagued us from the start things might have been a little different.

I heard him yesterday say that we all shouldn't be surprised if Jake wins his job back in camp. He also reiterated that he was the best option when we were 4-7, and when Pack said that was ludicrous given what Moore did relative to Jake, he was quick to respond with "Yeah for 2 and a quarter games". The only credit he really gave Moore was that he has "worked his way into the conversation" of being in competition for the starting job in camp. I'm surprised I didn't see this posted anywhere today...

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
