Saints DE Bobby McCray fined 20K for hits on Favre

If they can fine the players after the fact, they should be penalizing the officials who didn't make the calls in the first place! But the roughing the QB situation is usually a lot different from the unprotected receiver getting hit by a helmet lead when he's vulnerable, precisely because the refs are detailed to watch the QB with such scrutiny. That unprotected receiver situation may happen so fast and away from the refs direct view that it isn't caught until reviewed after the game by the league. The league can make a determination if it was intentional. Unless that's what was determined for this Saints player, I don't think the league should be able to get away with it. There's usually a very fine line between a clean hit on a QB and roughing him.

All of these fines are based on penalties, even if they're not called. But roughing the QB fines should be based on penalties called, not after the fact determinations.

Yes, he deserves a fine in both instances.. but dirty/cheap references aren't needed here. Quit hating.

Damn it's easy being a Monday Morning QB...

I just wish you all put things in perspective some times..

If we were as aggressive as the Saints y'all would be calling us a #1 Defense... but since it's the 'Aints, well... re-read and you see...

And YES, the officiating was bad... BOTH the Vikings and Saints had calls against them that were bad and called against them that left me thinking "WTF?"... Doesn't really matter to me where they occured, the game was played for 60 minutes... So missed calls/bad calls were made throughout..
