I don't get everyone's logic that Lewis isn't good as a starter because if I remember last year, it was our dline who was constantly getting pressure and that included Lewis

Just because he doesn't get every single sack on every single down doesn't mean he sucks

It's not about talent but rather value. I wanted Lewis off of the starting duty last year but as we all know the DT situation just would not allow for that. I just feel that if you are going to pay a player that much money and be the starter they should be better than what I have seen out of Lewis. Same thing goes for Kemo as well.

But I think the bigger picture here is that IF you don't have Peppers, having Lewis on the line will not produce the same results as it did in 2009. And I think the team has to either hope that one of the other DT on the roster can step up in a bigger way or find one in FA or maybe the draft.

:iagree:

At this point you have to ask can we find anybody better than Lewis and would cost less?

I like Lewis. He's a good pass rushing DT, and he plays decent against the run. He fits right into Meeks system and has a lot of upside, I don't see why we would get rid of him.

I honestly only see us cutting 1 player from the DL if any, and that will be either Brayton or Taylor.

Honestly, the last couple games of the season showed me that we already have a pretty good line with very underrated players. If we lose Peppers it will hurt a lot, but Fox & Hurney are very close to recreating the beast we had in 2003.

i think brayton stays, he's played well and doesnt demand much money.

the excess is at DT not DE. i like lewis too and think he stays. leonard and tyler should stay unless they under achieve in camp/preseason. irvin is in the same boat. these guys are all fighting for spots. i think lewis is nailed in. kemo and hayden are up in the air.

keep 5 DT? six?
