Fans in Jax respond

You are a public figure.  You are an owner in an entertainment industry.  You are 65.  You were the only one to assault anyone else.  That is all that matters--Tepper has immediate access to security.  This was not a back alley mugging.  It was an spoiled rich kid having a tantrum and he decided to assault fans from another team.  Rest is fluff.

It’s technically a battery. They have incentive to lie about the exchange because to the extent the fan might also have been at fault (who knows what was said but threats for example might be material), it could mitigate or even prevent their recovery. As several in here have suggested, legally, the operative question is what are the damages really for a thrown drink?

That said, the broader issue is the court of public opinion. If you’re Tepper, you want this thing to go away ASAP. Last thing you want is protracted litigation and more bad press. Further, what  message does it send if billionaire sends his team of high powered lawyers to squash local Jax fan? Fair or not, that might very well be judged publicly as being unrepentant or even vindictive. Best outcome here is to settle swiftly and quietly with the fan. Resolution is more valuable than the money for Tepper.

    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
    • Uh oh, Nicole Tepper hugged him. In all seriousness though every time I see more about him my hopes get higher. Smart, great attitude, prototype size and measurables, and athletic. He could be a great one.
