Bears Fans

That's just the way some fans are. A friend of mine who lives in Chicago and is a huge bears fans hates the signing of Peppers. He's predicting a 7-9 season.

Bears still:

A) Have one of the worst offensive lines in the league, therefore any running back they have will look bad

B) Have no legitimate #1 receiver, and are about to lose their best tight end.

C) Have zero impact draft picks(no first or second) so they will have to be lucky if they want an player that will provide an immediate impact. Unlikely as the Bears are one of the worst drafting teams in the league.

D) Their coaching staff still sucks balls

etc etc need me to keep going?

Congrats Bears fans, you got one player when your team is for the most part in shambles, yet still are among the top for overall salaries!

They were 7 -9 last season and just got better, they can surely win 1 or two more games this season.

A) The line looked a hell of alot better at the end of the season when they moved Chris williams to his natural position at LT(Jared Allen got blocked all game on MNF) and Shafer to RT, they will address O-line again this season. and it should get better.

B)They had young receivers that all did pretty darn good and Devin Aromashadu looked like a very viable option. Talk now is that Greg Olsen isn't going anywhere and Dez Clark is still pretty good as well.

C)True no 1st or 2nd but let's not forget they have drafted very well in rounds 3 and later, for example, Forte was a 3rd round pick and made an immediate impact. I don't see where in the draft "rule book" it says you have to be a 1st or 2nd rounder to make an immediate impact, They basically just drafted Peppers, Chester Yaylor and a beast 300 pound blocking TE(the Line just got better again)

D) Can't argue that!:D

but please go on.

Good to see you know your team well. But Forte was a 2nd round pick.

I agree with this 100%, I think it's a great pick up for Chicago and no he is definitely not the 2nd coming of LT(who the hell said that?) Bears fans have a right to be excited , their defense just got better, did it not?

The Bears pass rush needed an upgrade. They got exactly that in Peppers.

However, the problem with Peppers is still his personality and inconsistent play. The Bears got exactly what we had...a physiclaly gifted player who can absolutely take over a game. He plays great for 3-4 games a year....is average 5-6 games a year....and disappeares for 6-8 games a year.

He could have been the next coming of LT, but his personality and work ethic has never been there.

My bad, for some reason I kept thinking we got him in the 3rd oh well, kudos to you(mid 2nd-3rd,what's the difference?). Anyhow, back to my point, These other guys were all immediate impact players for the Bears drafted in rounds 3-up: Jonny Knox(3rd), Lance Briggs(3rd), Alex Brown(4th), Olin Kreutz(3rd) even your beloved Chris Harris was a 6th rounder.

    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
    • My top-5 JAGS: 1. Tommy Tremble: May not ever be top-tier, but has been solid and you never doubt the effort. 2. Cade Mays: Not bad for a 6th rounder. Hated to see him go. 3. Brady Christensen: One of the most versatile backup OLs in the NFL. Hopefully we re-sign him. 4. Trevis Gipson: Quietly was really solid depth last season. Glad we brought him back. 5. Brycen Tremayne: Has been solid depth at WR, flashing at times last year.
