Is J-Rich setting Fox, err us, up?

top dawg

For the last time: This thread is about setting Fox up for success. Setting the fans up for an extension of Fox. No where in the post have I said that rRichardson is setting Fox up to fire him. To the contrary

Damn! You guys need to read before you draw conclusions. I expect more from some of you guys.

You assume I was responding to you. There's been other speculation in this thread.

For the record, I'm not that big on conspiracy theories in general. In my experience, the simple explanation turns out to be the correct one more often than not.

Pardon me if I assumed in error, though I have really been the only one speculating in the thread so far. Some seem to agree with me in reference to Fox's exension, while others have outright said they believe he's gone, save for a miracle season.

I am not big on conspiracy theories either, though I don't think that this thread is about conspiracy theories. It's more about Richardson's loyalty, practicality and fundamental belief in Fox, regardless of what the fans and the media say.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fox is locked up before the end of the season if we have a winning season. But, that's just me.

I could only see that if it's 1) a dominant season, not just a winning one and 2) we win at least the first playoff game in convincing fashion. Not sure I see either of those two conditions happening.

Fox technically had a "winning" season two years ago, but it ended in disaster. I don't think duplicating that performance would be good enough.

I take it at face value. Jerry Richardson - and Danny Morrison - are giving him a year to prove he's worth keeping.

I don't know if anyone has brought it up but this all makes a lot of business-sense. Problems with CBA, lame duck coach, spending too much, etc... Jerry is setting this Franchise up to look very pretty on the other side of this. Think about it. Lots of cap space, young talented team, decent atmosphere. Every coaches dream when entering a new coaching job. Every managers dream when entering a new management position. The panthers will get any coach/gm/players they want. We might even have some success before then as well.

    • For a 3rd year QB? That flies with the Teppers and makes the HC and GM look like fools.  Their fear is evident. Their careers are tied to making it work, it's ehy they signed on here and they are professionals who knows what kind of a situation they could potentially have on their hands if they are not calculating about popping up Bryce. I call BS to that sir. It's why every QB after Bryce couldn't make any other rosters past a PS spot...at best
    • Not just Dalton.   But the only real young arm they would let be seen the past 2 years was a really a bad Jack Plummer.  Who was super weak even for that tier  Can’t convince me how weak they made the atmosphere around Young hasn’t been intentional.
    • Things of note: mentions he has six drops. Six. For all the people that don’t know what a drop is, he has six. That’s a long distance from the league leader at ten. (To be fair, pro football reference has him at seven, still not bad.  Plenty of others is that same range.  His drop % is 6.3, which is low.) Catchable ball success ratio: 83% which is great. Catchable being the key word.  Mentions his contested catch rate is low at 5/18 but that’ll get better I think when he can rely on muscle memory for routes, catches, etc and the game slows down for him
