Viewed the 3D TV a Best Buy today...

Went over there at lunch... pretty cool. We do a lot of 3D stuff on PC's here at work, so I'm used to that kind of thing. They had it setup on a Samsung LED 42" TV playing Blu-Ray. The movie looked really good. I'm wondering how live TV is going to look on it... or TV shows.

The one big downside I see is cost (obviously) at this point... the TV is $3200 and the glasses are $200 each... so unless we had 4 pairs at my house, we'd have to just watch 2D.

I was pretty impressed with the picture quality though...

that technology for the home was debuted at one of the trade shows year before last, I think. At that time it was still going to be a while before it hit the stores, and the pricetag told me that it was going to be a looong time before I own one. I dont even know what they have for players to view 3D content, or what movies are going to be available. I will wait and maybe they'll come out with a good 3D home projector...

wait a couple yrs. i remember LONG ago when HDTV was the new thing, took years before the plants aligned, thus making it a smart buy. just like with HDTV big company finally gave it and upgradeddd the cameras, mics, programing, and all other equipment. thats billions and billions, same tag will be for 3D. there is only a few things out that are "3D", is it worth buying a new set to watch a couple hours?

    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
    • Except it wouldn't be Rodgers leading them on a postseason run, it would be the defense and he's there to not screw up their great games. Which is why..... This times a million. I didn't watch a ton of the Jets last year, but from what I did see, Rodgers himself didn't look like a bum, the team just struggled and was more than likely due to poor coaching on the whole.  The Steelers don't need MVP level Rodgers to win games, they just need him to be good enough to make some plays when it matters because the defense is keeping them in games every week regardless. In their 7 losses last season, the Steelers scored 10, 13, 17, 17, 17, 19, and 24... while giving up 19, 20, 24, 27, 27, 29, and 34 in those games.  With only marginally better offense last year, they probably end up winning a few more games too. They only scored over 27 points in 3 games last season. I think this is a great move by the Steelers and if Rodgers can stay healthy all year, will get them back into the playoffs and could make some noise if their defense is up to the normal level of a Steelers defense.
