Mike Minter at rotary tonight

My local rotary had a banquet tonight. Guest speaker was Mike Minter. He gave an inspirational speech about defining and pursuing your dream. He talked about his life and how his dream of playing football took him from Oklahoma as a small child all the way to Charlotte playing for the Panthers.

He did answer some questions about football. Given he does some post game radio and is tied into the Panthers he pretty much towed the party line that the youth movement was a good thing and necessary although he will miss his friends and buddies.

He did say that Vick will never be here, said Richardson will never bring him here due to character issues. He also said Moore was the guy and that no big name will be brought in to compete or be the starter. He said McNabb wasn't coming either. Then he answered questions about his foundation and business ventures.

So if he still knows the pulse of the Panthers, there you go.

Mike Minter for HC in 2011...? lol

He did talk about coaching but not for the Panthers. He has been lobbying hard to be the first coach of the UNCC football team when it starts. He said he wants it bad. He also talked about the private school he coached this year in Concord to a perfect record and state championship.

    • Not just Dalton.   But the only real young arm they would let be seen the past 2 years was a really a bad Jack Plummer.  Who was super weak even for that tier  Can’t convince me how weak they made the atmosphere around Young hasn’t been intentional.
    • Things of note: mentions he has six drops. Six. For all the people that don’t know what a drop is, he has six. That’s a long distance from the league leader at ten. (To be fair, pro football reference has him at seven, still not bad.  Plenty of others is that same range.  His drop % is 6.3, which is low.) Catchable ball success ratio: 83% which is great. Catchable being the key word.  Mentions his contested catch rate is low at 5/18 but that’ll get better I think when he can rely on muscle memory for routes, catches, etc and the game slows down for him
    • I'd honestly take The Golden Calf of Bristol over Young. You know you can design an O around his skillset to win you games. Plus, as a bonus, said O would wear him down within 3 years so you could move on from him.
