Being a captain isnt just about what you do on the field. When you're a captain, you're supposed to set an example for other players (especially the younger ones) on how to conduct yourself on and off the field. Smith fails at conducting himself off the field in the proper manner. Younger players can see how he has acted off the field in recent past and right now in the present and think that sort of behavior is acceptable. Therefore that behavior spreads through the team like wild fire.

How do you know how he acts in the locker room and with his teammates? How do you know that he doesn't use his mistakes to teach a lesson to the younger players?

Beason, Kasay and Gross are locks... Then either Harris or Davis for the D and for the Offense either Williams or Kalil (Don't think anyone has mentioned him as a possibility)

lulz. my favorite thread of the night, beats the other one about daunte culpepper by a mile. beason and harris on defense, clearly you've all agreed on that. kasay for ST, cool... gross is gonna be a C on offense, and i think matt moore will earn the other C in training camp. but i do think TD will be a huge leader on defense, as well as steve smith on offense, regardless of C's on their jersey's... how bout that?
