QB instead of WR in the 2nd?

Jarrett's got built-in issues (work ethic being the biggest).

We've got Davis, Anderson and Conner working at OLB. You consider that our biggest weakness?

facepalm... Don't question the formula!

Davis, coming back from a MAJOR injury...

Anderson, did well in spot starter duty, but has been around for a while without earning a starting job...

Connor, an ILB that had to fill in at OLB because of our depletion last year...

Say one of them gets hurt... That leaves you two guys playing 60 minutes without a breather... and I'm sorry, but I don't have to confidence at this point in either Anderson or Connor that some of you do... Depth is the biggest reason it is our biggest need overall, but if all the WRs are gone (I think this is our biggest WANT) that we have high atop our board, OLB is surely going to be up there...

I actually agree I think drafting a SLB in this draft is a must, but the value is not there in the 2nd. AJ Edds is my ideal pick. Did you know he is also a longsnapper. Two birds with one stone.

This lets someone like Golden Tate or Daryl Washington slide a little, and if they slide enough, we'll do what we have to do to move up and snag him...

If worse comes to worse and we have to stay at 48, it'll be a DB (I really doubt this happens) or a pass rushing DE/OLB hybrid like Jason Worilds... He is actually pretty hot on my radar right now for the Panthers...

i want washington so bad. can play wlb or ilb. great future starter or beastly depth. either way i am happy. plus as you say TD is coming off major surgury and anderson is still a 1 year deal i believe. we drafted TD with a loaded starting LB group too, and that worked out quite nicely. i see washington and weatherspoon (covet) are the 2 best LB for us by a mile. washington is just a playmaker. i dont think washington slides to 48 though.

on worilds, do not want in the 2nd. he isnt even as good as brown (love worilds 1st step but he is hit or miss on getting of the line in a timely fashion). also he is a workout warrior more than a player, upside out the arse (saying that for when he got to VT) but not productive. he was on a shitty line this year, and a decent line in 08, but never really put up huge numbers (did make ryans world hell, and as ryan is now a falcon maybe he can continue to?). short stature too. i am a vt guy an i dont think he fits in the nfl other than a 3-4 OLB or situational pass rusher (that may never come close to hitting his potential). rather have kam chancellor as a SS/WLB prospect out of vt much later.

All positions are in some type of danger in the case of injuries.

If's when talking about injuries are always there.

    • How did this “innovative” narrative start with Canales? Just because he’s young? He truly wants to run the ball and nothing Tampa did last year was all that creative. Mike Evans ability to win 1 on 1 does wonders for an offense as a whole
    • Initially, I wanted Stroud but I thought the trade up meant that, whoever they chose, it was for a reason.  There was no pressure to do anything for the entire scouting team to do other than investigate every aspect of the top 3 candidates.  Stroud had his question marks, and I think it is possible that he falters this year.  Bryce had a much worse situation here in Carolina because we neglected the OL, traded our #1 WR, did not pick WRs well in the draft, traded our pro bowl RB, and seem to disregard the TE position altogether.  Bozeman was not a good fit and we relied on an improved OL in 2022 to suggest that we were set there when we were far from it.  Fitterer had no vision, no grasp of talent, and everyone in the front office and on the coaching staff were pretending to be gurus.  Our coaching staff was a group of men earning a lifetime achievement paycheck.  It all goes back to the years of neglect for the OL.  My theory?  If Stroud had come to Carolina, he would be as mocked and ridiculed as Bryce Young.   No, he does not have a cannon.  Chad Pennington was a weak-armed QB who had success and would have been even better if it were not for injuries.  Smarts is important at QB, and so are mechanics.  Before you can address Young's mechanics, he needs an OL, Running game, and weapons. We were not really able to run play action from under center for a few reasons--play action is not effective when you have to pass the ball--other than that, the QB must turn his back to the LOS for about 1.5 seconds.  When the QB has less than 2.5 seconds to pass the ball, that eliminates that part of the play book.  Heck, even the run option is minimized when there is immediate facial pressure.  SO those who want to talk about happy feet, bouncing, etc--they are symptoms of the problem, not the problem.  A weak arm?  Well, Young's arm is between Chad Pennington and Joe Montana--closer to Joe.  His are is not as weak as some think--but he has issues with the deep ball. When you are reacting to the defense and quickly have to pass, then that takes away the strength because you don't have the base to get power behind it.  I still wish we had taken Stroud, but we have Young and if you toss him out before giving him support, you are not wise, unsmart, not unfoolish, and rather elite in your failure to attain mediocrity.  Expect growth.  How much? Nobody knows.
