Santonio Holmes traded to JETS!!!

When Smith punched Lucas, the end result was that the team rallied around both him and Lucas and the players were determined not to let it tear them apart. The result was a 12-4 season.

Show me where someone beating their poor wife senseless has ever been a rallying point for a team.

What planet are you from??? It was still a sucker punch of a person who was in no shape too defend themselves. I like you to meet my sister and see what happens when you piss her off. How much poo flies at your head. You do know that if you restrain sombody that can be called violence too. If your wife feels you held her too long or hard you can be charge with domistic violence.

yes, I don't believe in people versus house violence either...

As a practical matter, this is Roger Goodell's league now. Guys with character issues are bigger risks now than they ever were before.

For those who say four games isn't a big deal, how many games did we miss the playoffs by last season?

How about Marques Colston? He wasn't a 5th rounder though.

He was a 7th rounder.

Please give me the odds of that happening for us. Or how many times that really happens. If you can tell me that the odds are better that a 5th, 6th, or 7th round pick gives you production like Holmes then I will shut up.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/12/glazer-league-is-expected-to-announce-santonio-suspension-today/

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that an announcement from the league is expected to be made today as to the newest arrival in New York.

The suspension means that Holmes will continue to be subject to unannounced testing multiple times per months, and that one more false move will result in a one-year banishment from the league.

In the wake of the stunning decision to hand Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes to the Jets for a fifth-round draft pick, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers were prepared to release Holmes if they hadn't been able to trade him.

Per Bouchette, the Jets made the best offer for Holmes.

"Show me a 5th rounder who can produce 1200 yards receiving with 10 touchdowns."

    • I don't necessarily think he will be moved, I would currently be leaning against that notion. I think a lot will depend on the coaching situation. Carroll certainly can't be thinking about wanting to go through a serious strip down and overhaul, so the longer he plans to remain, the less likely I think Crosby gets moved.
    • I think everyone says Mike Evans because of size, but really they have different strengths and play styles.  Tmac is better on intermediate routes and not nearly as good at contested catches.
    • At this point, it is criminal to go into the 2026 training camp/OTA's with XL penciled in as a #2 WR. The team must upgrade, either through free agency or the draft. If he cannot give 100% effort on significantly less snaps as a #4-6 WR(players like Tremayne have done that consistently) then I don't think you have a player worth rostering beyond the trade deadline. Offensively, we eventually have to upgrade to an NFL starting caliber C. It's been almost the length of time from Gross to Ikey since Kalil retired and we have below average to terrible C play. Love Mays as a BC-esque utility backup but he will never be an above average long term starting C.  The TE room is one of the worst in the NFL but it's a low usage position in this offense, so the investments are likely to be small, if any. I would never expect to see an elite TE in a Dave Canales offense. 100% agree on OL depth. We actually aren't bad there but BC will be gone, Mays is a UFA, Corbett is a UFA and Zavala has been both injured and bad. We have to bolster that depth again or resign guys like Mays and Corbett to keep that depth somewhat stable.
